Amazingly, some of you wonderful people I've encountered on here have actually read what I wrote and responded. Thank you.
So, today I want to talk about the latest film I've watched - and loved - Religulous.
I must say, Bill Maher is a genius. I'm so happy to see someone that actually had the balls to speak up and bring the important topic of religion out in the open and help to dwindle the taboo nature of the topic.
As an agnostic - and more accurately, a Humanist - I am often perplexed with how seemingly intelligent people can be so wrapped up in the utter nonsense of religious belief. Now, I'm fine with people believing what they want, but when they start to shove it down my throat - as so many religious folks do - I have a big problem.
If there is one thing I can't stand, it is arrogant people that pass judgment on others about beliefs that aren't even based on facts. These are the sorts of people that need to simply be told to FUCK OFF and mind their own business.
Perhaps Maher has opened up some doors to allow more discussion of religious belief...perhaps he has given people like myself a bit more confidence in telling others what their opinions are. I certainly feel a bit more comfortable talking about it now.
It's time that we start to wake up and see how religious belief is causing so much death and destruction...and ask ourselves - is it worth it?
