I used to live in Baltimore MD. Many many brick or wood shingle row house side by side for blocks and blocks of city streets. Occasionally the rows of houses would be broken by what is called “end of group” houses. If the front door architecture was as is shown in your photo it meant that house was originally built as a shop, a tavern, an office. They also usually have very ornate hand set mosaic tile patterns in the entry foyer floor and midway up the walls. If still intact, these houses go for a very premium price when sold.
