Is there any way to receive some kind of notification when there's something new in the Newswire queue? Zak had submitted that at around 8:30 my time, but I didn't see it until I randomly checked the queue around 1am.

I feel like a slacker when I miss something like that (and the Russia/Georgia one a few weeks back), but 99% of the time when I check the queue, there's either nothing there or there's stuff that's not Wire-worthy.

It was a little (a lot) emotional. I had to listen in the car, but NPR had these interviewees of African American descent after the speech and and and...sigh. I don't know. So good.

I found this really cool interactive map you might dig. It's all about how states voted for the presidency in 2004, the margin of victory, and has other things like, black and hispanic population, median income, higher education, etc. If you click on a state, it even has presidential voting results all the way back to 1984:
