I tend to hold the opinion I don't do much, take today for instance. I was thinking I should get out more once work settles down since I feel a little boring at times.
To illustrate, what happened today?
Well i'm glad you asked! I went to court today and finally reached an agreement with the bloke who wrote off my motorcycle (and could easily have killed me if it wasn't for luck) to get some money. Less than half what the bike was worth but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. I'm way too kind I think, I could have nailed him to the wall. Oh well bully for me maybe karma will get me .
On the way to work I was nearly in two accidents.
1. I over took two cars at the only place possible on a windy road. As I finnished passing I saw a truck ready to pull out. I could see him and obviously IF HE LOOKED he could see me. Yep he pulled out right in front of me and I can tell you I was still over the speed limit. For some reason accelerating past cars at max throttle will do that!
I'm only riding a moto guzzi v11 sport at the moment but the brakes are fantastic. It's a lug of a bike and thats the hardest I've ever braked on it. I thought I was fucked! Funny thing (racing may have helped) I just got on the anchors and didn't panic. In my head I thougth "oh fuck I'm shot" but physically I just did what had to be done. Thats kinda cool to remember, I've learnt something in 20 years of riding!
The most amazing thing was the sound of the brakes, OEM pads in the brembo gold calipers. Sounded just like my old race bike going from 237kmh to 35kmh at the northern hairpin, mallala. It was a comforting sound, an unusual whizz or hiss. I suppose you have to hear it to understand but it may well have saved my life .
2. An easy one to avoid, a council truck nearly pulled into me beacause the driver didn't look. Nothing too unusual about that. I hit the brakes and the driver saw me and pulled back into his lane. Then he said something, I checked if he was abusing me, he wasn't so I let him in. Nothing pisses me off more than people that could have killed me blaming me because they didn't look!
So then I get to work and the network is down, it's also one of the only two days I'm allowed to go to the pub for lunch during work! Guess what? Yep I went to the pub and had a couple of pints with lunch. So far I'd done no work! After lunch I avoided work untill we had to have a meeting, boring. At least I can wing next week!
I head home early, this has been a weird day, and then walk to the beach. I only go in for 15 mins or so but walking down, having a soak and walking back is pretty chilled. think the kiteboard gear comes next time the wind is up! (Wind wasn't up today). I digress...
So then home and clean up my emails, eat dinner and get on here. Not a bad day really, and for a day I thought I did nothing! Perhaps I'm too hard on myself.
Roll on...

Thanks.
Hooray for the Guzzi Gang! My California EV has 80k miles on the odo, and scrape marks on the bottom of the floorboards & saddlebags. Nothing rides like a Guzzi, and I too like the song of the Brembos when they're earning their pay.
