and so it begins. i was prompted to start a journal on SG by vuokko, and if anyone reading this hasn't seen her spectacularly sultry photoset, do yourself a favor and go now. seriously, right fucking now. open a new window and when you're done revelling in her glory, come back and sift through some of the crap in my head.
so it's yippee jesus was only kidding about being dead day, it seems fitting that we start off with some of my thoughts and feelings on religion. it makes some people feel happy or fulfilled or superior or whatever. it's still fucking twisted. they take a set of principles on ethics and morality and turn it into a way to boost their own senses of self-importance. now, as someone who loves the practice of philosophy but hates the doctrines of those who study philosophy, i see parallels for this basic behavior of prejudice everywhere. everyone wants to be on the winning team, to be one of the enlightened. be it thelogically, philosophically, socially, or professionally, we offset our personal neuroses and phobias with public polarity. because if we are different, then someone is wrong and someone is right, and nothing makes us feel more righteous than being right in the face of someone who is wrong.
we use the beautiful diversity of humanity, the closest thing we have to an expression of what they decide to call "god", as a means to foster hate and distrust. we use our tragic propensity to violence and betrayal, the closest thing we have to an expression of what they call "lucifer", as a means to gain power and money. is it any wonder that lucifer spilled from the very loins of god? it is the west's decidedly less elegant expression of yin & yang. there can be no darkness without light, there can be no light without darkness, sure. that's not really the point for us anymore. now it's all about defining what is dark and what is light and condemning anyone who dares to disagree. why? why do this? because as long as there's an argument, as long as we are polarized, then the weak-minded will look for others to express a point of view they can rally around. the sheep will beg for a shepard to heap adulation upon.
i will never understand those who need who adulation, believe that they need to receive it a smuch if not more than those who give it need to submit. i seek something different from people. all i want is understanding. i don't mean empathy or support or approval, just comprehension of ourselves as ourselves without the subjugation of categories or emotional distress of manipulation and power play. all i want is to be, and it's all i ask of anyone else. let's try it without all the bells and whistles and ricketa-racketa. what do you say, people?
