On Friday night, I was at a friend's house watching the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The movie was okay, it had its moments, but after House of 1,000 Corpses and The Ring it didn't really scare me. Given the choice between the original and the remake, I'd have to stick with the original.
Anyway, once the movie was over and it was time to go home, I started down the stairs from the second floor and my left foot missed the second step, causing me to stumble. I caught the window sill next to me with my right hand, and the railing with my left, but my right foot took some damage; I stubbed the toe second from the smallest really badly. I was afraid I'd broken it, but there was no swelling and when I got home I put an ice pack on it for a while until it felt better. By morning, most if not all the pain was gone and still there was no swelling. It did hurt a bit, however, trying to put a sock over my right foot, because of the injured toe. Keep in mind at this point it still looked perfectly normal, although the nail was a little banged up.
So I go out canvassing, spend couple of hours walking around on it, and then met afterward at this sports bar where the group had lunch and drinks. My ste representativem whose campaign I was canvassing for, dropped me off at the library at my request so I could get some stuff printed up. I had a bus pass with which to catch a ride back home, but it's only good for a week and I don't want to activate it untill I really have to. So I walked home. Two, maybe three miles. Later in the evening, I removed my shoes and socks to discover my injured toe had gone purple around the base of the nail, really dark in that exact same spot and getting lighter as it spread out. Clearly, something had ruptured inside due to the pressures of walking, and bled. But, with nowhere for the blood to exit, it's pooled in the area of breakage. My toe at that point was alternating between numbness, normality, and a continuous throbbing. This continued well into the night, until I fell asleep.
Obviously I've done some damage to a vessel, or group od vessels. I don't think anything is broken, because if it were it would be swollen and I'd be feeling it like nobody's business. Right now, the toe feels normal. But this has me worried. What if it gets worse? Should I got to the emergency room and have a doctor apply a leech?
