SIFE nationals went exquisitely well. The team didn't place, but we had a good time and I had a chance to write down a lot of ideas for the upcoming year.
For viewers who aren't familiar with it, Students in Free Enterprise, SIFE, is one of the largest global student organizations, with chapters in over 40 countries. Each team competes to create the most positive impact on their local economy and help equip people with the tools and understanding to succeed in a free enterprise system. Each team is measured on how its projects complement Market Economics, Success Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, and Business Ethics.
The amazing thing about SIFE is that it makes you feel like you can make a positive change in the world. It gives you hope, the confidence to hold to your convictions, and the discipline to accomplish your goals.
I'm all about bringing the indie attitude to my college's team (I'm an officer this year, and a four year member). We're going to try to win nationals, which means coming out on top of 900-some teams.
School starts in mid August, and I kickstarted some summer meetings last week. I'm something of an odd man on the team, but I finally feel like I'm getting resepct from my team members.
