I've been obsessed with Stanley Kubrick since my college philosophy professor made my class watch 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Maybe its because I ate a hand full of mushrooms before class that day.
Idk
Anyhow, with the blog homework this week being about favorite horror movies, I immediately thought of The Shining.
It wasn't initially one of my favorites, but after some research, I think that's by design. Its supposed to upset you, but not in the obvious way.
Its difficult to take in if you only watch it once.
I noticed a fairly obvious theme after watching it four or five times. Thought I had it all figured out.
Then, a few days ago, I watched a documentary of sorts called Room 237. Its basically a bunch of experts explaining their interpretations of the symbolism in the movie.
Absolutely fascinating!!!
Psychology, advertising, subliminal messages, the moon landing?!?
Whoa
So in the spirit of the blog homework, do any of you have theories about the themes and symbolism in Stanley Kubrick's movie, The Shining?
