Fun Facts Time

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced
enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

(Hardly seems worth it.)

If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is
produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.

(Now that's more like it!)

The human heart creates enough pressure when...

Our first typical Seattle Fall day of October. Grey, drizzly, chilly. Perfect day to stay inside, and bake Halloween cookies (I am being possessed by June/Betty again).

Also a great day to wear my new fuzzy kneehigh socks. They are so cool- black n ornage striped and soooo chenille-sweater soft; just got em @ Fred's yesterday. I'm thinking about getting another pair and cutting the toes...

I got tired of the old name, so I changed it. Sorry for any confusion. smile

Does anybody in Seattle talk about Mt. Ranier possibly erupting?

I just got my last unemployment check, and with it came one of those letters in which I was 'randomly' selected to do an interview and bring my job log to prove I've been looking. Why do I have to go thru this bullshit when they aren't going to give me any more money? mad whatever

Thanks for the comment on the pic!

And congrats on being off the hook... It's always surprising how much you can get out of with just a little persistence.
daniyell:
that's retarded. I HATE the way the government can make you do stupid stuff. Just give us money, dammit!!!!

The film was good? I studied that in book in university, and loved it. And I also adore Reese Witherspoon. But for some reason i haven't wanted to see the film. It was such a long book, I don't know how it's possible to make it into a short film!

we're all insane so no worries tongue

it usually takes me about 3-5 hours to download an episode. I hate having to wait!
daniyell:
i kind of felt that EVERYTHING about the episode made me feel like I was watching Melrose Place or something. The way it was shot - the scene where it cuts to Russel wandering by himself in an empty area of the gallery, watching Claire, etc.

Nates entire attitude about everything is driving me crazy. And how suddenly everything was solved in one instance, and then the guy shoots himself. WTF??

The worst part is that movie producer guy. That is right out of left field, and is something I wish they would cut out.

I dont' know, I'm suddenly not looking forward to the show anymore. And it sucks!

It seems so hard to even get an interview these days unless you know someone, which makes temp agencies that much more attractive. I think companies like to use temps to test people out, that way if they don't like them they can just replace them. It sounds bad, but I think in the end it usually works out best for both parties.

Supposedly published in the July 25, 1994 New Yorker magazine.
by Jack Winter

It had been a rough day, so when I walked into the party I was very
chalant, despite my efforts to appear gruntled and consolate.

I was furling my wieldy umbrella for the coat check when I saw her
standing alone in a corner. She was a descript person, a woman in...

the only real reason we aren't dating is because it is something that he is totally not ready for. He has way to many things going on, and has the typical 'fear of commitment'. And I can't see myself being with someone like that. So we have a great friendship, and that's where we are for now. Who knows what will come of it eventually!

I'm pretty familiar with the symbolism associated with moons, but what about with snakes and with the letter X?

Interestingly enough, there's a fairly significant ceremony in the book I'm teaching right now that uses snakes very heavily. I'd be interested to hear about the different cultural meanings for this symbol.

Also, I think I used a dictionary like that when I was writing a paper on T.S. Eliot. He has a specific passage in one of his poems where he refers to an orchid, and it turns out (as I discovered through using the Symbolism Dictionary) that the orchid has a whole range of potential symbolic meanings.
