God, I haven't updated since like 2005 or something.
Part of the reason is that there's so much to update that it's hard to encapsulate in a few pithy sentences and I don't really feel like Unleashing the Verbosity. Whatever. I'll keep it short and snappy:
-Got a phone call this evening asking me to fly down to LA to sit second chair at a deposition because the (very experienced) lawyer doing first chair didn't think she could do it without me. Then she gave me the firm credit card and told me to get down there as soon as I could to help her prep. I ARE SERIOUS LAWYER.
-I have worked for the last 22 days straight. I had two days in there that I only billed a couple of hours, but beyond that it's been actual 7-12 hour days. Again, I ARE SERIOUS LAWYER.
-There's more to it, but the short of all this I ARE SERIOUS LAWYER stuff is that I've been kicking ass on a tremendous level. This feels good. I am enjoying this. It's odd because I haven't worked this hard since I was studying for the bar and I generally don't like to work that hard, but... this, I like. This, I could get used to.
-This, is fantastic:

-Saw Stepbrothers last night. Sucked.
-Tried to match livers with Timmy last night. Sucked.
-Bought NCAA Football 09. Anti-Sucked.
-The really, really, REALLY big news is that Necia is knee-deep in applications to get out here. The process has started in earnest and that's very, truly exciting. She even has a call-back interview coming up. Digits are most definitely folded over one-another.
-WHY MUST I ALWAYS BITE MY LIP IN THE EXACT SAME PLACE!? WHY MUST MY LOWER CANINES BE SO SHARP!? Seriously, I'm going to cut my lip to ribbons one day and that is going to piss me right off.
-I know I've mentioned this feeling before in past journals, but I truly do find myself with a sense of being close to something excellent. The anticipation is there and it drives me to push harder and harder. It's not difficult to go to work knowing that my...
