Okay, so it's been a really up and down week. I got a call at work on Tuesday morning from John saying my sister was in labor and also that our family friend Big Mike had taken a turn for the worse (he's been in the hospital for a couple weeks now) and that they were probably going to stop life support that day.
We rushed up to the hospital and after only a few hours my sister gave birth to a 6lb. 5oz. baby girl named Kiley June. She was so tiny and absolutely adorable. It was a huge rush of joy to see her there especially when my four year old nephew held her and gushed about his new baby sister.
We went back up two floors and an hour after my sister gave birth they stopped all life support on our friend. He passed away quietly about twenty minutes later.
Big Mike was more than just a friend to my family, he was like a family member. When my sister had Kaleb he stayed up at the hospital until four in the morning to see the baby. He hadn't seen his own kids in fifteen years (they couldn't be bothered to come visit him) but he was there for all of me and my sister's events. He was the guy at my wedding wearing the tee shirt with the tuxedo on it. He will definitely be missed.
I haven't really left the house too much since Tuesday. Yesterday I was persuaded to go to the Farmer's Market and pick up some groceries, but that's really about the extent of my human interaction aside from John and Rick since they live here.
Today I have an appointment to get the outline done on my new tattoo. I've had the appointment for a while since my artist is hard to pin down so there's not really any canceling it. I'm going to have to leave the house again and I'm not really looking forward to it. I was supposed to work today, but I had back up coverage since we didn't know for sure what day Kandi was going to have the baby so I went ahead and just took the day off since it wasn't a big deal.
Sorry about the extra long post. I just finally felt like getting everything out.

Wow. What a day of extremes! Glad you opened up and expressed your thoughts. It's definitely a way of healing. Stay strong and focus on what's important to you. Hope all stays calm for awhile with you and yours.
