My poor laptop is dying, about a year ago the battery went and now one of the hard drives is dying, so it's a scramble to save data that wasn't important enough to back up. Copying around the dying sectors making duplicates on drive while the backup is going on, pulling things into the os ram cache to give it the best chance of surviving while all this is going on.
It's like a slow motion collapse happening faster than thought.
Watching a progress bar that says 20 minutes while knowing that random bits of data are winking out at the speed of electronics is a strange strange feeling.
But most of it is still readable for the moment due to the parity information, 60 year old technology still saving my ass today, thanks for thinking ahead guys.

Got it all, well almost all, a couple sdk installs were too far gone, but luckily those can be redownloaded from the publishers.
