more ridiculousness.
last night, after working during the day, i drove to chicago to see planes mistaken for stars. the doors for the event were at midnight and the bar was open to 5am. i got to chicago at about 9ish and found a place to park and sleep in my back seat for a few hours. at some point i was awakened by some bozo backing into my car while trying to exit his parking space, which made me wonder how many times that happens when i'm not sleeping in my back seat? moving on, i woke up and went to the venue, which was in the heart of the wicker park area. since i went by myself, i made a point to strike up conversation with some other dude that appeared to be by himself. turns out he was a transplanted michigander and we shared some stories about shows that we were both at. the first band went on and the sound was atrocious. my friend from detroit, who now lives in chicago (don't they all?), showed up and i had a good time talking with him. we discussed writing a book about trying out band members/tying out for bands. i think it would be and amazing read!!! hahaha. so, the show was disappointing on a few levels...but the conversations were good and i was happy to at least make the trip. at 5am, i got in my car and drove home. i've been sleeping ever since.
the night before last...friday, i went to the palace to see QUEEN w/ paul rodgers singing. is it shitty that i enjoyed the bad company material that they did more than the queen material? don't get me wrong, they did a great job with the whole thing, it just didn't sound like queen...it sounded like bad company. i was in a suite, so i got to watch the pistons and eat free...bonus!
i'm going to get back to my recovery. i slept so hard that my shoulder hurts.
