Trivialities:

Got a new lens. The 17-55 2.8 with the IS.
With the IS engaged I can take shots hand-held with a one second exposure and have them come out acceptably clear.

Effin.
Sweet.

Also, I can now run the 7-minute-mile. Now I need to train til I can do it twice in a row. Then to the six minute!

Tomorrow, the world!

Gun control is one of the matters on which I have a fairly extreme view when compared to my countrymen. I think that it's been fairly well established that humans aren't responsible enough to be allowed firearms. We are petty, base creatures; prone to fits of passion and fits of idiocy. Really, are fucking slaughtering each other. Bottom line I think we have no business...

On the occupation of Iraq:

I've had my little internal monologue going about where the Left Wing and anti-war movement is going. I want to record it for reflection's sake.

There is a huge push on the left, the swinging center, and even somewhat in the right to leave Iraq ASAP. Cut and run. Get out of Dodge. This movement's new broad-spectrum appeal has renewed...

You are too right. It's a sad state of affairs over there and who knows how long it'll take to clean up, but a complete and total withdrawl would leave an even bigger mess. The puppet government we've put in place would fall to pieces leaving a vacuum of power that could ultimately defeat our entire reason for going there, well, I should say, the reason of why need to stay and fix the mess. That would be more of a shame then the fact that we weren't justified in starting this war in the first place.

I would like to speak with you soon. You should call me or magically appear at my doorstep so I can hug you and not miss you. K thanks.

I need some lens advice. Despite my love for prime lenses, I have decided it's time for me to get a zoom.

The first one I looked at is The Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS. It's a fine lens. Nice range, superb quality, and FOR SOME REASON it has image stabilization. Three stops!

Thing is, for about $130 more I could just get the...

The de facto pardoning of Lewis 'Scooter' Libby has been met with disgust by the American public. The commuting of Libby's sentence by the very people who profited from the crimes which were committed is proof positive that the Elite who rule this nation have thrown off the last vestiges, and abandoned the guise of being democratic leaders. Those now entrusted with leading world in...

I do not know why america does not care about all the crimes being committed from the White House. It makes my head spin and hurt, a lot.

So, I got shot. Yeah, with a gun. Who? Some guy. In Harvard square.

Yeah, I know. Harvard square. Three people have asked me now "WHO GET'S SHOT IN HARVARD SQUARE?!". Clearly, I do. O.G., Motherfuckers.

I should warn you, the dope is making me a little loopy, which will perhaps be reflected in my prose. But without the dope the pain you experience reading...

In respones to your question fom last week, I would say that I was marginally counterculture in the old days, basically a hippie. I work with mostly forty & fifty year olds & I am unique among them. The coworkers who have expressed an opinion are grossed out by body piercing & multiple tattoos. My generation seems to have mostly turned into a bunch of old stiffs, just like our parents gereration was.
My wife has several tattos. She started collecting them almost 20 years ago, which was before they took off in popularity. None of her friends have them, so we're pretty unusual.
I find the Suicide girl look much more appealing than the Playboy types, who are mostly tall & blond with plastic boobs. The only thing that puts me off is multiple facial piercings, though 1 or 2 is OK.
Hope that answers your question.
