Here's what you have to understand about ‪#‎Prince‬:

He was the Bowie of my generation. He took Bowie to the next level (if you're older or younger than I am and don't understand this, I'm sorry but I will ask you very politely to kiss my ass). He let you know it was OK to be whatever you wanted to be...

I've always had a lot of respect for him. Didn't like ALL he did, but the respect was there. He KNEW about music <3

The adjustment now, that I'm firmly entrenched in middle age and my irrelevancy is confirmed, is the decision to understand and find peace. Fighting it proved to be very dangerous indeed, and very nearly put me on the street. So - I adjust. This is not the same as passive acceptance. There are elements that are worth embracing - quieter nights, the secure knowledge that I...

It's not the same as it was.

It'll never be the same as it was.

I'm not sure why I came. Nostalgia? Wanderlust? Lust?

Sometimes you look for things in the strangest places.

Anyways, it's not here.

I have only scratched the surface of attempting to adjust to life in Detroit after 22 years in Los Angeles and 2 in New York. It is very odd to see all these familiar sights in my every day life, adjusted for time and the decay it brings. Everything decays here. The people, certainly. Winter crushes the spirit and the body. When it hits again...

Deer. Oh and fireflies! Amazing to watch them take off from the lawn and light up.

OK so....I came back to SG after nearly two years.

And...I'm moving from Los Angeles to Detroit. Tomorrow.

Things are changing.

Hey, M. Love your newest song, "Another Man." Hope all is golden and that you are flourishing as much as you deserve. It looks like you are and that really makes me happy for you. Cheers, my friend.

Strung out on cigarettes
A black tea or two
Another night wasted
Thinking of you
A Saturday picture
Walk in the park
I haven't the courage
To see through the dark
Happier here with my memories
Nothing can hurt me inside of this world
It's warm and it's funny and never gets old
But I just can't climb outside
And see...

Nobody will call
Not as long as I keep my phone off the line
Not as long as I keep my voice down inside of my mouth
But it's getting harder to hide
And the brightness of the colors makes it hard to describe
And the voices that seem to come from all sides
Makes it hard to decide

Black, Blue, Her, You

I...

"There is no intensity of love or feeling that does not involve the risk of crippling hurt. It is a duty to take this risk, to love and feel without defense or reserve."
William S. Burroughs

Borrowed from Moxy. Kinda fits me right now actually.

It's about time we had some real gun control in this country. I'm sorry but the "right to bear arms" is an antiquated holdover from colonial times and should go. The whole "guns don't make people bad" stance is a tired argument. It's gotta stop.

We can agree to disagree my friend.
Thanks for the comment on my blog, it made me smile real big. biggrin
imp_:
as thanatogenous said...as have many, many others. "guns don't kill people, people kill people". as a gun owner, i see my guns as a recreational activity, not a means to bring harm to others.
shooting at ranges ...in the desert....is fun...and that's all.
that being said there has got to be more strict gun laws. I was able to purchase a shotgun in about an hour. it took an hour as my address on my drivers license has changed (which i could have most likely lied about). i was instructed to get a fishing license. i got one. i gave them (verbally) my new address. no proof of. but stated it as fact.
gun shop took my written on, no proof of other than "good faith" fishing license as proof of my current address.
five minute background check later and i was the proud new owner of a shotgun. it's pretty. and it looks like it could kill lots of zombies. but i doubt they took the time to consider whether or not i was arming up for the zombie apocalypse or if i were arming up in order to shoot down innocent people.
more strict gun laws are necessary. make it a felony to sell your personal fire arm to john doe. if you don't want it, turn it in to a licensed vendor, etc.
making owning a gun illegal will not make the crimes stop, it will just make those who wish to use guns against the innocent easier to hide, as there's not a bit of a paper trail.

sincerely,

totally not the NRA
