And another week (or so) has passed. I feel like I've done fuck all, but it's actually been pretty eventful. First off, I went to see Boris at Nice & Sleazy's and it was probably the best gig of the year so far. I spent far too much at it though but hey, you only live once.

Twas my friend Pauline's 21st the next night....

Congrats on the cake and the graduation. My dad's two-year mark was a few weeks ago, also on a big day for me (with my job). I can relate.

That's why I made the journal entry friends only. biggrin

Choo choo choo choo beep beep...yep, I just got back from Deerhoof and it was pretty goddamn fun. I'll chuck a review up in the concert reviews group either tonight or tomorrow (not that anyone actually checks it) along with some piccies. Two related points to that: firstly, check out a band called Holy Fuck. They're an innately danceable electronica act from Canada and they...

Ah Deerhoof, seen them here. It was alright, but not the awesomeness that I had been hearing about.

Anyway thanks, keep your eyes peeled...
daisy:
Why didn't you go to strung out?

The zoo was great, really good. There was a penguin parade, which was so so cute. And i saw a real life rhinosaur. I was like a kid.

How you matey?

Well, I just got my results about an hour ago and I got an upper second class honours, which is so much better than what I expected I would get it's unreal. This also means that I can do the Masters that I want next year. I am so fucking happy right now.

If you're into it, you should join my Prog Group!

That's awesome man. Very good to hear it surpassed even your expectations. Echoing everyone else, congratulations.

Thanks always for your thoughts on my photos. I've been breaking in my new-ish camera for awhile, so whenever I post a new entry, I'll have a load of brand new ones to put up. I look forward to sharing.

I've seen the concert reviews group, but I don't get to go to shows often, if at all. But that was Virginia, so who knows. Reading your LOTM review now, I wonder, are most UK clubs really starting to cut down on set times? Reading a Celtic Frost bulletin a while ago, they said that a lot of promoters are trying to fit multiple shows in on the same night, so they wanted them out at a ridiculously early hour. Sucks to hear. Anyway, I love pit-bullish frontmen. Barney from Napalm Death embodied that when I saw them. Good times.

Hope you continue to be well. See you around.

Right, apologies again for the massive absence. To be honest, I have no real excuse. Once I get out of practice with something, new priorities rapidly move in to take its place. In other words, I have a very short attention span. Firstly, my exams are finished and I'm waiting to get my results in. I didn't do too great as my exams really seemed...

yeah, examns are a bitch, luckily I survived those just a couple of weeks ago, and I sure you'll do just fine. looks like you're gonna have a good time seeing Deerhoof and Boris wink I'm looking forward to a show this friday myself, Decapitated, Cephalic Carnage, Necrophagist... sounds promising, hope I have a good time. biggrin

Dude! Nice!

I'm in fucking love with the new Neurosis. How is the Bee & Flower?

Also, were you ever a Delgados fan? Did you get to see them? Emma Pollock has a solo album coming out, and I think she's been playing some in Glasgow.

Of course if you tell me you used to see Jesus & Mary Chain at the corner pub every Friday night I'll have to punch you in the neck. tongue

Ah, fuck it. I'm kinda missing y'all so I thought I'd stop in and say hi as it's been a while. My sincerest apologies to anyone whose birthdays, drama, etc I missed, but I had to concentrate on uni and sorting my head out. Basically, I got to the point where I just didn't want to be around people that I didn't really know all...

Heyas y'all, just to say that I'm gonna be away from the site for a little while. I've been out of sorts lately and I need to concentrate on uni stuff anyway, so I guess I'll see you when things settle down a bit. Sorry.

Ja mata ne! kiss

Don't hate me for spamming you... I'm sending this to everyone in the group... tongue

Hey! I just wanted to stop by and thank you for being a member of the Concerts Group. The Summer Concert Season is almost upon us, so I'd love to have you throw a review into the group if you happen to catch any great (or not-so-great) shows this year. And if you know of anyone who might like the group... send 'em our way. The more the merrier!! Have a great summer! ♥
belllla:
Thank you for the email. I'm looking forward to writing you back. Here's a kiss to blow your way in the hopes that you're doing well with all of your work. ♥

Kay, no gigs this week so it's probably going to be a short update. Basically, the major event this week was that I have decided to apply for a postgrad MSc in High-power Radio Frequency Science & Engineering. It's only gonna be one year, but I get a half decent wage out of it, I get to continue being a student and Emma's staying at...

Right, I'd like to say this is gonna be more focused than the last post, but that ain't gonna happen. Firstly, gigs. Last week I saw:

* Diskreet, Origin, Misery Index and Necrophagist at the Cathouse - this should've been a great night, but it was hampered by a poor sound, really muddy, and all I could hear were bass drum and snare. Origin were...

I am currently pursuing a career in the dark arts (i.e. ninja-ness).

Sounds pretty good to me..... If you didn't live at the opposite end of the country I'd be quite happy to come do all that with you, if you'd have me obviously.

So, the NIN gig was totally worth the wait. It was a strange setlist in that there was no Hurt or March of the Pigs, nothing from the Fragile, and they played Deep (from the Tomb Raider OST). But guess what? I don't care! They were awesome, they played a decent-length set and even the support were pretty good (Ladytron, FYI).

Apart from that, here...

Yet another quick post. Last week, I actually managed to get some results for my project (ie I actually got the thing to work). I was unbelievably chuffed, however, it's still gonna be a race against time to get it done. Wish me luck, y'all. In other project-related news, Emma may end up published by the end of the year. And she hasn't even graduated...

I haven't had a bad headache since Thursday night's mess. I went to the doctor on Friday. She diagnosed me with migraines and prescribed some special, ridiculously expensive medication. 9 tables, $200 without insurance. Crazy. I haven't had to use them yet. Maybe it was just stress. I did have a test on Friday for 3 weeks in a row. tongue

Way for me to not put any actual news in my blog. Sheesh. whatever
ikaruga:
yeah, destruction of all that's worthwhile... still only another couple of shifts, then back to days on thursday.

it seems like things are sort of getting there, which'll have to do for the time being.

Okay, so a quick update, I feel, is required. Even though I have been up to pretty much fuck all over the past couple of weeks. Firstly, I found out that I just managed to scrape a pass in the exam I was sure I had failed, which I was pretty damn chuffed about. The project, however, is still going nowhere though. Meh, no worries,...

Yeah, back again. I have returned to uni and my classes aren't looking too bad this year, even if they are somewhat dull. I mean, why did I think a class on gas discharges & plasmas would be interesting? Ah well, I'll survive.

I've finally got back into going to gigs as well. I know it's only been around a month or so since I...
