Saw Tool in Camden thursday night. It started raining as soon as they started playing and by the end of the first song (stinkfist) it started to pour. It was a pretty awesome experience being out in a field soaked head to toe rockin out to an awesome band with a very impressive light show. They had alot of cool images and little videos and shit which i was really glad for as i could barely make out the human forms that were tool as they rocked the stage. From what i heard, Maynard was wearing blue jeans and a big ass belt buckle. The rain subsided midway through the set, i believe 46&2 was playing when it finally stopped. Fittingly, it picked up again during the encore and really started coming down again during Aenima. Overall it really re-instilled my love for them and my dislike for the venue in Camden which will remain nameless. Over the last few years bands seem to be getting away from playing in Philly which to me is really sad. The trend now seems to be playing in Atlantic City. I wouldn't mind it so much as its probably less than an hour away (a small trip for any fan of any band) but the shows end up being on odd ball weekdays and expensive as shit. I think i saw Primus is playing at the Tower Theatre in UD PA. The last show i saw there was Danzig in the 90's. Alot of famous acts have graced that stage and some pretty big names still come back. Now, i haven't been a big Primus fan ever since the original line up disbanded but i might go just to support the fact that somebody is playing in the Philly area and actually are in PA. The TLA is still going pretty good i guess although last time i saw Social Distortion there it felt the second level was going to fall off. And the numerous shitholes on south street just dont have the same feel as they used to. I.E. Dobbs being replaced by the Pontiac Grille. Plus, they all seem to either fail to pay their rent, renew their liquor license, or pack the hole with no regard to comfortability. I'm done here.
