I am convinced that certain cars have a personality. Some vehicles actively resent being fixed, like a crabby person who really dosen't want to go to the doctor, but relented because listening to the nagging for one more minute would have been too much. Others are happy to be getting better, and everything goes together smoothly from start to finish. Luck plays into this, manifesting...

Why you gotta talk shit about my Buick right out here in the open? wink

She'll come around. She's always been a bit tempermental. She does show me a lot of love.

Wellll, this week was boring as hell. Last weekend was cool, though. Wyatt, myself, R, H, and their respective girlfriends got together to celebrate H's girlfriend's birthday at Cape Henlopen state park (DE) for a night of beachside camping in the gorgeous pine woods there. A roaring campfire was complemented by a good bottle of Champagne provided by yours truly, capping the evening's stargazing...

I'm in fucking shock that this country put Dubya and his lying, evil crew back in office.

To the rest of the world, I offer the apology of 50 million Americans who realised just how wrong this president is.

He's not *our* president.

The assembly is random, but the events themselves are rather mundane.

Where did you have the opportunity to see rednecks shoot pumpkins out of an air cannon? Man, now I'm all disdainful of Louisiana rednecks. They never do anything that cool.
charley:
That sounds absolutely amazing, I have this thing about doing America by train too, it may actually happen one of these days confused

Wooo!

Everybody go look at Maxi's new set - it's neat-o.

My old shop.

Aaaah, the memories...

A great song for our dipshit president:

As if freedom was a question of might
As if loyalty was black and white
You hear people say it all the time-
"My country wrong or right"
I want to know what that's got to do
With what it...

Social Distortion was rad. Never seen 'em live before, but I've been a fan for a long time.

Now, if only Agent Orange would go on tour...

Ghetto Bingo was fun - thanks to Trashy for the invite - it was good to catch up with the usual suspects (you all know who you arebiggrin)

Bowling was fun,too - many thanks to jamieLee who...

I don't have any pictures yet, but I'm sure my roommate has taken some already-- things get rolled pretty quickly in New Orleans, thanks to this weirdo Fred Radtke, a.k.a. the Grey Ghost. He takes it upon himself to paint over any graffiti he sees with grey paint. He had an interesting run-in with the US postal service when he decided to paint over marker tags on a mailbox--he was unaware that you can't paint federal property grey, even in the name of obliterating vandalism.

Dude, you're now an SG pimp... biggrin

What a craptacular day.

In the ten years i've been fixing cars for a living, nothing has ever happened to me while driving a customer car.

Until today.

A little old lady in an Accord ran a stop sign and smashed into the car I was driving. T-boned me right into the passenger side rear wheel.

I'm fine, the car is fixable, but the cops...

little old ladies scare me when they are behind the wheel. I stay as far away from theem as possible.

I am hoping one day to ejoy the wonder that is the cable modem. *sigh* someday...

Sorry to hear about that. Ugh. And wait wait wait, your birthday really isn't June 7th? Or is it?

I found a local mechanic who's been doing VW's for 20+years, and he seemed to take a liking to me. wink

I'm at 161k, changed the timing belt at 103k. Technicality says it should be changed every 60, but my intuition says I can go a little longer?

"let there be Bowling"...

I fear that's doing a disservice to innocent short-bus riders, though.

that made me laugh so hard

The airshow at Rhinebeck was great - I've never seen WW1 planes in flight. They flew a Fokker triplane, a Sopwith Camel, and several other biplanes. It was neat, with mock combat and bombing, etc - complete with a pwerfectly cheesy storyline, and period cars, motorcycles and trucks involved.

Wyatt, S. and I had some great riding through the Conneticut and NY countryside, too. Good...

yup, my belt tensioner seized.
broke the belt in the process though, and also dumped coolant all over 57th street...this resulted in the need for a new coolant tank.
it's fixed now, but ford extracare doesn't cover it. although they did cover my tie rods, which aren't even close to the causal part, but got fixed anyway.

...as soon as this warranty is up i'm buying a used honda.

I emailed you my address and phone number in case you needed to mapquest or anything. Call me if you have trouble coming down!

.Wow, it's been more than a month since the last update, who would have thought the time went so fast.

I'm almost done moving stuff from the old shop, there's just the big lift - all 2,200 lbs and 15' of it- and then i'm out and the place gets torn down. How surreal. I put 6 years of work and my life into that...

Oh, heavy dUty. When I left the studio that I built last year to come here and be with Clovesbud, it was probably the hardest thing I've ever done. I knew that one day I'd be able to have that again, that I could build up something amazing with my bare hands and enjoy it with likeminded people and all that stuff. BUT STILL. The loss still hits me when I'm working here in the living room, making a mess, and never being able to "tidy up" because this whole house is now my studio. We are moving to a new apartment in September, and it will save us enough money that in the not so distant future I will be able to get a closet somewhere to work, and I can't WAIT to not work from home any more. So, tearing things down and building them all up again is a recurring process in my life over the last two years. I feel simultaneously invigorated (sp?) by the destruction, and overwhelmed at where to begin again. That's a deadly combination. It means I'm full of energy and have no idea which direction to point it in. But you keep on going, right? I feel for you and your workshop. *hug*

My shoes are okay, but the bright orange laces are. That was all I could afford to spruce up my wardrobe recently, but it did the trick for me. wink

Another Xmas, another year almost in the can...

All things considered, it was good today. Spent it at the bro's place, built a big ole fire, ate turkey with mom, dad and bro. Opened presents, gave others, stayed warm and read a book.

There are many things to be thankful for - family and friends who love and care, having a roof over your head...
