So, my phone died in spectacular fashion a few days ago. Just got a new one. If I had your number, please send it to me again.

Fighting off cat terrorists. Heh. It HURTS.

Believe it or not, the blame is on Jack. Well, in his defense, it did involve some nail trimming, but he has never done that before. Back feet hurt. blackeyed

So what are you up to in NY? Auto repair?

Road trips are so much more fun when you don't have a cold.

Or a loaded 30 foot long 10,000 lb. trailer.

That you have to unload and load 3 times in 7 days.

This seems a awful lot like work. Can I sleep now?

The problem is that there is a huge double standard whether you care to admit it or not.

Someonoe posting anything anti-bush, whether it is supported or not or whether it is totally illogical or not is lauded and held up as some kind of deep-thinker. Someonoe posting anything resembling conservative thought is blasted.

I give opinion in response to others giving opinion and I am told I must go spend time finding a link to support my opinion while the rest are just accepted as fact.

Thanks for your comments.
observingone:

I disagree. We have had quite a few wingnuts of various extractions (including left) who have spouted nonsense and have been laughed off the boards. You haven't been here long enough to draw such broad generalizations.

I would suggest that you consider the possibility that your personal views are biasing your conclusion.

I will take your word for it that left-leaning posters have been challenged before, but I've seen quite enough to conclude that this is obviously a very rare occurance.

Please don't misinterpret my comments regarding the fact that conservatives are a minority here. (at least among the vocal members of the site) They are not meant as any kind of excuse. It's a statement of fact. When I post a conservative viewpoint, I am confronted by numerous others at once Each of them has one post to challenge while I have all of them to answer. I don't mind, but it's time consuming and that's time I'm not willing to devote right now. (wife, kids, job, 3 hour commute, etc.) You can look at that as an excuse if you want.

I will continue to express my views as I have time. I welcome the opportunity to discuss politics (and many other issues) with those willing to share their own ideas in a civil manner. I look forward to participating in such a discussioni with you in the future.

Soooooooo, things have cleared up rather nicely.

I bought another battery charger and got the big one out of storage, bringing the total to four, just right. The Focus got fixed and went home, hopefully to be traded in and never heard from again. The first longterm motorcycle project is done and driving for the moment, awaiting tags.

...and I saw Pirates II, which was...

I guess I'm in it, and trying to get out of it.

I am still at the parents's house, see.

As for home in general, I guess it's a place that feels comfortable. I haven't felt that in a while. Comfort and me are pretty rarely in the same room.

thanks! it's 70 degrees and gorgeous today... i unfortunately dont get to ride

Since there is a lot of stuff going on in real life that needs my attention, I have canceled my account. I don't know how much longer it will be up, but feel free to email me @ edvf1000r@aol.com to get more contact info.

This has nothing to do with the recent drama, BTW - I just need the time to prepare for my move,...

I hope you all never see in person what we've seen for the last few days.

We're out of the impact area and heading home.

The final tally: 7,700lbs of supplies distributed to seven towns in Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana, and lots of other supplies transported between towns where they were needed and others plentiful.

The destruction in Mississippi in particular is beyond belief or...

Update:

We made it on at least one, possibly three local networks and one radio station, and collected about 4,000 - 5,000 lbs of donations (mostly clothes) in 8 hours on Sunday.

I'm off to purchase some stuff that we didn't get (like gas cans and more basic foods) and pick up a pallet of medical supplies from another donor.

Then, down South I go.

You're a good man, Stiles. I wish I could help you - but honestly I'd probably just get in the way. Best of luck to you - and keep yourself safe while you're there.

I'm organising a 24 foot trailer full of supplies to deliver personally to hurricane victims. If you are near philly and can donate any of the following, it would be appreciated:

non perishable food
canned nutrirional drinks ( Ensure/Instant Breakfast etc)
bottled water
vitamins/salt pills
gas cans
coolers
