I think these people who are constantly disrupting town hall meetings across the country are a symptom of a larger problem within most of the followers of the GOP: Volume Over Message.
It seems that when they cant make a valid, well thought out, and honest point they feel the need to do nothing else but scream how its their duty to stand up to this 'tyrannical' administration and try to scare up ghosts of socialism.
Its the same tactic used by Carl Rove to frighten people just enough to get Bush elected, its the same tactic used by Bill O'Reilly to drown out any sound of a contrary opinion on his show...ditto for Rush and now even Glen Beck actually losing his damn mind and shrieking at a caller.
It just seems in all the discussion of health care the two most important things for most Republicans has been 1. making sure Obama fails just to make a point in the 'by any means necessary' tradition and 2. Trying to protect both insurance and pharmaceutical companies because, well, they have money and need more money to make money for the sake of money.
Bottom line, there is no reason the price of a drug should cost so much more here than it does in Canada...period.
And as a diabetic, I've always felt that having people who NEED health insurance pay so much that they can often not afford it is despicable. For me...JUST me...insurance is over $550/ month. All because of a health problem that started when I was 14.
You just try telling a black guy or gal that they have to pay more because black people are more likely to be involved in a violent crime and require medical attention or due to all the unhealthy stuff they eat in the inner city they will have more health problems and require more medical attention so, just to cover their backs, insurance companies will charge more...because they are black. Even if all those 'facts' were true, they could never get away with it.
(Incidentally, I use the same argument in my case for gay marriage...you just try and replace 'gay' with 'black' and see how far you get then)
Point is, the less they have to say the louder they seem to say it. Take an empty pop can and put a pebble in it...then shake it. Makes a lot of noise.
Now fill the can to the brim and shake it....doesnt make a sound.
Familiar?
