The last 20-30 hours (and ongoing still) has been "omfg render faster time!" for Ember. I left NJ early yesterday so she could kidnap my MacBook Pro. That is, after reinstalling Windows and 3ds Max. Which always takes far longer than it should. Windows especially. After she is done, I should make a clone of my Windows partition, that way I can just trash the Windows partition, and copy back from the clone should I ever need it again. Which is leaps and bounds faster than installing off CDs/DVDs.
Each frame took roughly eight to ten minutes on our MBPs. And about twelve minutes on her older PC (dual-core 2.0 GHz Athlon).
Anyway. I offered to help her render on some of the [new] machines at work, since two of them are unused currently (vacation and what not). We're running Max 2008 over there. Anyway. The longest frame took one minute and 58 seconds. Insanity. I could comfortably watch it render, on the laptops it felt like an eternity for a single pixel to change.
However, some lights were not to her liking, she's at work now, and only her PC is rendering. I don't know what the status is, perhaps she'll use her phone as a phone and let me know one day.
I wonder what I should do in the meantime.
I just upgraded and jailbroke my iPhone to and from 1.1.4. I've been running 1.1.2 for what seems like forever. Now I can watch my home screen icons do the shuffle! And Google Maps' locator is more accurate than Navizon's. Installer thinks I still have all my old apps and claims there's an update for all of them. Weird. My custom carrier name is still "DOOM!" though, which always make me smile.
Hmm. Updating and uninstalling apps always fails. Maybe I should reformat and start fresh from 1.1.4... And yes, for those of you who will never ask, I fully intend to jailbreak my iPhone even after firmware 2.0 comes out.
I wonder what I'll do for dinner. I always went to carts for breakfast and lunch. I should definitely make something at home for dinner.
