My name is on a menu!
The second name, but those of you that matter already know that. Life has been a lot of work work work lately. It seems like the foundations are being laid for the rest of my life. We're moving again in mid march, a mate of mine who used to work at the restaurant is moving back up north and has put us in touch with his landlord; this really amusing man who works for the national trust restoring antique iron work. He's really only interested in paying his mortgage, and having some friends nearby to have sunday lunch with (if he's a chef all the better!). So we're getting a massive 2 bedroom flat with a small office, two bathrooms (one ensuite to the master bedroom), a balcony and an attic storage space, all this for 600! (for those of you in the states, we pay 1170 for our one bedroom flat at the moment, and that is normal and reasonable for central London) Between that and my pay rise, we should be able to pay off all of our debts and start saving very soon, with an increase in expendable income atthe same time. All in al things are looking pretty good for 2010.
My anxieties about the promotion were well founded, but the head chef and I have put our egos aside and been focusing on getting the job done. We're busy as hell (an January is a traditionally slow month for restaurants) and succeeding in all way. Our food cost has not been above 33%, and the guests are very happy with the food. I'm learning off the cuff how to be a manager, and succeeding. I gave my first bollocking tonight, weird. I'm also realizing how skilled a cook I actually am, how broad my base of knowledge is. All in all, it's looking like a good year!

I saw this over the weekend. I dug.
Usually musicals make me a bit edgy.
