Happy New Year everyone!
So, it's been 2012 for a week, and it's taken me about that long to recover from NYE. It's been an interesting week, and the year didn't start quite as I'd planned...
First day back at work on Tuesday, and had a chat with my boss. Ended with us both deciding it's probably a good time to part ways. You might remember I'd mentioned I was planning on leaving, though I hadn't wanted to do it now. Anyway, I'm treating it as a good way to start the year, and while I'm a little nervous, I'm also incredibly excited. It was a pretty amicable split, and they're even helping me to find a more appropriate job, focusing on the kind of design I'm good at.
The last time I went freelance, I was in a much worse situation. This time around, I have a book of regular clients, offers from design agencies I could only dream of working with, and the support of some incredible friends. It's going to be fine... Right? *goes back to pretending he's not worried at all*
I'm going to be back in New York next month, which I cannot wait for. Got a few burger joints to check out, and most importantly, a tonne of Vans sneakers to buy. It's going to be nice to go back when it's not humid as hell. Although I might change my mind once I'm freezing my nuts off. Most exciting of all is going to be the 24 hour trip to Chicago to see The Promise Ring. Considering I have so little time there, what bar do I NEED to go drink at? Preferably one with some good bourbon!
I'm also going to be heading out to Australia in May, so that's another big thing. Never thought I'd see the day where I venture down under, but my closest friends, that I haven't seen for AGES live down there now, so I'm making the sacrifice. Anyway, I have no doubt it's going to be awesome.
Below is one of the few pics of me from NYE. This was after about a bottle and a half of JD, and about half a bottle of Bacardi Oakheart - the party was only just getting started! I also though it would be a good idea to wear my Drive jacket. Pretty much the only time I'll have an excuse to wear it, other than halloween.
So that's my year so far, and a few of my plans. Here's to new beginnings! Have an awesome New Year y'all!
