freind pointed out that even WITH the bits in bold the alst blog was just too confusing so here's the new one
The weather of the last couple of days has been magnificent, and due to an administrative mess-up:
(That meant that I'd not been paid either at all or as overtime for my Thursday shifts since I started doing them).
I've, not had to go in on Thursday this week, and have had the week off, pretty much, and have been spending the days do my "daily office" which consists primarily of trolling trough online publications for useful industry information that either related to my degree sector or another of personal interest, like fashion, videogames, or skateboarding and/or Job listing websites, and emails. As I constantly get emails but hardly ever get viable opportunities, as is life. During downtime, rather than play GTA, I've been sunning myself in the back garden, reading Stardust, and it does make a difference. I'm a lot more bored, but it saves GTA for days when I can't sit out, or go for a skate.
Today I got the new Drapers (and about 14 fruitless job listing emails), and whilst I'm not surprised, it doesn't mean I'm any less disappointed that the "appointments" [read: jobs] section has once again failed to have anything even vaguely related to any of my skills in my skill set.
I mean, if I was any good at or had actually been TAUGHT pattern drafting rather than "well that's kind of how you do it, now go away and do one yourself for next week" I might actually be able to apply for 1, at Gul, as a garment technologist, but it's down in Cornwall, and I'm not going to be good enough without lying through my teeth, and that's assuming that they're willing to take on a graduate for a non-junior position so no, whilst I COULD have applied for 1 job, I wouldn't have got through the primary's
I'm still really hopeful about the Playstation UK job and I have to hope the reason why they've not got back to me you is not that I have a rejection letter in the post but that they've been so busy with Playstation Day that Vicki's not been able to check the emails she got when she got back into the office
But I can't think of anything worth calling about, and it would seem quite desperate (to me) to get a phone call from a candidate from a job asking is you'd had a good Playstation Day, and if I was expecting to hear anything back at any point soon about second interviews.
So unless you all decide to drop me encouraging comments saying "do it" I'm just going to wait and send a similar e-mail to the last one I sent when it reaches the 2 week period.
It wouldn't be such a big deal if it wasn't such an ace job, OR if it wasn't WAY more preferable than Tesco, OR it was not only in a sector where without prompting at least a 5th of my income gets spent in, and at least half of my free time, especially whilst I'm working evenings.
I realise how psyched up I am bout it when others ask me and of what I would be doing and even if it wasn't as good a pay as it looks, I'd still be this excited. I find myself cursing when the net connection goes down, not just because I has been and is a wonderfully substandard service we receive from Virgin Media, but, because every time I check my emails or the post, I expect there to be something from Playstation there, which (in the fantasy) always invites me for a meeting/second interview with the seniors.
But if it doesn't work out there are possibilities for different shift and different departments at Tesco, none of which seem particularly good, just better, and I'm waiting to hear back on that job at blockbusters, and hopefully they won't take the piss like Topshop.
But I'm really considering especially if caz and/or Paul are seriously free and wanting to travel to do that, hope that whilst we're away the economy actually turns a corner and jobs in all 3 of our sectors start to open up. and that's without any of my other friends who half-heartedly want to go travelling are free and financially able.
I'm in danger of this becoming very long. So I'll end on a positive note, which is that tonight I get to see my sis and bro in law and tomorrow a mate from uni's down in London with her sister, and it is my intention to go out on the town with them and Vicki, and take public transport back, but things being the way they are, I wonder if any of it's going to happen or even by viable by the time she's down from Scotland; but no point in being a negative Nancy.
