Ooooooooohh - today was spent being the most hungover I've been in a couple years.

Managed to stave off the black cloud of death somewhat by sleeping right in until 2.45 today, but by early evening it had caught up with me. I had to persuade myself to go up the road for supplies. Used the carrot of going to the 7/10 - but sadly...

So I just got up.

The sun is smiling (yes - smiling) and birds are capering around like they're cast in a Disney movie.
And I have to spend another day at work.
Le sigh.

I've often been accused of not wanting to work, as if I was some selfish cunt who didn't want to support our schools, hospitals and daily copy of MX. I...

My first post as a Melbourne girl. smile

Cities have personalities. Since I have moved here, I've become sure of it.
The difference between Sydney and Melbourne is glaring.

Melbourne people seem much more reserved, though. Sometimes I just wish I had a really good friend to talk to - I have a horror day at work, my MP3 player dies (like today)... and there's one...

Congrats on moving to Melb, I've never lived in Sydney so I can't say what those people are like. Though in 2000 I met some nice people.

There are lots of 'holes in the walls' in the city, just have a look down some of the smaller lanes for some bars and cafes. I'm sure you'll find a fav. one or two smile

Once you settle in I think you'll enjoy it more (I hope).

Where did you move too?

Know how you feel. I'm in exactly the same boat. Just gotta give it some time I guess.....

So, my first day at work for Ticketek in the Melbourne Office is ended.

I'm having a sleepless night, obviously. This is mostly due to the mention by one of my new work-mates that she is going away for six weeks in just a couple of weeks. To finish my course or not to finish my course? Ah, that is the question. She is full-time,...

Can messy, disorganised personages who would make a feng-shui master wet their etheric pants change their spots?

I ask this because I seem to have surprised myself - I have Melbourne strangely well-planned. I work Weds - Fri, there's markets and a dinner with the editor on Saturday, Gotye after, followed by the coolest bar I've ever seen. Sunday is two Uni open days, including...

Sux that i'm going to Brisbane on Friday nite. I would have loved to show you some of the places i've found since i moved down here. The croft is pretty cool, i have yet to be there when its got heaps of ppl though. I assume u know how to get there??? When you look down Croft Alley it will look like a dead end but after weaving through the alley way, its right at the end. On thursday nights at the spot in Brunswick there is latin dancing if u like that sort of thing. Plenty of guys to sweep u off your feet.

Which uni are you looking at??? I need to see a careers counseller as well to see what i need to do to get where i want to be. I guess this makes me officially not a nerd if i want to get out of I.T.

Anyways, i hope you have a great stay and you love it down here.

As of this weekend: I have discovered my musical limits.

My musical boundaries have been stretched so far this year: Dub, indie, rap, classical, electro, emotive singer/songwriter stuff. (Though not emo or pop-punk, happily.) I even reneged on my long-time hatred of country music. I guess I knew it was coming.

I guess cute/happy indie-synth-pop isn't my thing.

I think all the girls in bright,...

At some point country music sneaks up and whispers in your ear "I was here all along" and you end up having to submit.

Happened to me too.

Dear Harry Potter,

And so it has come to an end.

We had some good time together, you and me. And yet the time has come to say goodbye.
We'll never again journey side-by-side, staying up well past witching-hour, as we work out battle strategies, watching the sun rise on another battle with your nemesis.

I remember when we met: over hot cross buns and...

I have a theory as to why Emos are Emo. A very strenuously, personally-researched theory.
It is because of the bloody fringes.

Seriously - how do they bloody deal with having half of it hanging in their eyes? I'm going through that stage where I look like a moody emo fucker if I sweep it to the side (or, in my own mind, Hitler) or...

Ever feel like you don't belong in this town?

Walking down the street feeling like a tourist, fitting in some ways, but totally on the outer in others?

After 2 1/2 years in this place, I realise I have exactly two friends in my suburb, and a couple of aquaintences.
I've always wished I could have a coterie of close friends to hang out with,...

I feel your stress. And I have been where you are, I was there for four years. But having friends is less about location than going out and making friends. You can join social groups, book groups and any other associations in your area. Most decent size cities have singles groups also.
duramater:
Hmmmm..... i actually have done what you are thinking of doing. I left my friends and family and moved to Melbourne , i also took up smoking a couple of weeks back. The vibe in Melbourne is great and there are so many great places to go out and about.

Let me know if you move down, im up for friends thing. Meeting at the same coffee shop (we can exchange for a pub if need be) everyday and debreifing. You'll have to let me know which personality you are tho so we dont double up, and we'll need to find a phoebe.
