Not a whole whole lot. I'm getting ready to go to Portland next week for a long weekend to see Joel graduate and spend some time with other friends. I'm also tying up loose ends for going back to school next semester (I'm actually doing it) at the university here. Surprisingly enough, it has nothing to do with English, instead I'm going backwards and getting an associates in the culinary arts. It's something that I've always secretly been interested in, but have just discovered I'm pretty talented when it comes to the food. It's also really cheap. Other than that, just passing time with cute boys and good friends. I'm enjoying being young for once.

It sounds like you're doing very well. I'm also impressed that your going to be teaching and stuff like that. My one true vice is watching The OC and Seth's character always reminds me of you.

I was flipping through an old journal this afternoon and came across a picture of you that had been in that disposable camera you had sent me. It made me smile.

So, instead of doing work, I'm going through my old albums and filling up my iPod. And you know what? I still like Jonathan Richman a whole lot. Particularly "Jonathan Goes Country."

Dorothy was a waitress at the Promenade, working the night shift in an all-night joint that played jazz and played host to lonely souls, or souls ready to make a change. She had hair that was blonde, black at the roots, and her customers liked it that way. She was tall and she had a smirk her customers liked, too. She made a good living...

we don't have a deadline, or a wordcount. not yet. for the first issue we were hoping to look around untill we found a few stories that we really liked, to kind of get it off to a good start and define it.
we're looking for stuff that's outside of the "hardcore" sci-fi world but still borrowing from it. vonneget is sort of the center of the bulls eye. not techno-fetish, no intergalactic politics, something with a bit more humanity and substance than "wouldnt it be cool if in the future ______."
it should be able to pass as hip, and suit an audience a bit more diverse than the usual sci-fi crowd. (not that i have a probelm with single overwieght bearded men. some very good freinds of mine fit that description. and i'm just a couple buritos away myself)

A new comics blog at Suspension of Disbelief:

"See how he's holding the arrow onto the bow with his index finger? Never do that. Let me repeat that. Never ever ever under any circumstances should you hold the arrow with your finger. If Speedy shoots that arrow, the next thing the Titans will hear will be his screams of pain. The fletchings (feathers on...

Oddly enough, that was one of the insults thrown my way.

Your assassins are among us, are they not? Oooooo, clever, clever, Phantom of the Rex!

I played FFXI when it came out, and was out of it within two months. WoW is leaps and bounds better. Plus, it sounds like the game for you. It has a EXP rest builder - the more time you are logged out of the game, the higher the bonus builds up. So, in the time it takes someone to level up, if you dont log into the game for three or four days, you can do it in a fifth of the time. That way, casual gamers can get a chance for the really cool high level shit as well.

Agreed. So many people whom have no clue, or are exactly the thing that a person (like Burroughs or Thompson) hated, are the ones now waving the banner and preaching what they believe to be the gospel.

Then again it doesnt take much to make me think the worst of people; I hate them.

Especially the one who signed me up for 'O'. I hope there is a special level of Hell reserved for that kind of villany.

Totally agree with you, it seemed for awhile there they figured out that after CTHD that as long as they stayed near that formula, they could make some bank in america. You should see the trailer on apple.com for the movie, looks very funny. smile

Damn, that's a long, yet very good, story. I never thought of him like that either, but if you cant be hurt, yeah, that would make sense.

Superman is a twat. I'll certainly read -- and love, I'm sure -- any Superman book Grant has a hand in.

But Superman is still a twat.

We3 by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. A serialized graphic novel not yet available in a collection, We3 is all the same the best comic book Ive read in a long time, and the most technically proficient. We3 is part of a movement that doesnt have a name yet, but I bet it will before the year ends. It takes an animal adventure story (think...

I've been thinking about the "Last to see them alive" thing. I actually have a great idea. I'm going to try to write something prior to the 14th. I've been pretty busy, but the idea I have is oh so good.

I'm working on a zine with a pal of mine. Everyone should write for it:

Real Quick-Like

Topic: Last to see them alive.

Ready and go! Procrastination is not your friend, dear writer. From the gut, stories, essays, fiction and non. You write em, we want em. Let the topic inspire you, and then send it on.

No time for writers block. We are looking...
