You're right about words and power. These days I rare use the "high caliber" type words because they're mostly meaningless. Everybody does it to the point of absurdity, which doesn't offend me, but I think a lot of the younger ones just do it because they think it can get a rise out of people.
Also, the tampon thing is more of a joke, since I agree it wouldn't work too well in the song, I just found it amusing the SG programmers would create it at all.
