Christmas shopping... ahhh... the time of year when chaos hits all stores and insanity breaks loose over plush animals that talk, books that can literally go "Boo" and clothes that we hope fit the person we're buying for. The mass commercialization of Christmas has become so hectic that mom's throw elbows over lulu hoodies (I've actually seen this) and husbands venture into the store trying to get the gift that will allow him to stay out of the dog house till a birthday or valentines day gift is needed. How did we get from a person dying on a cross and parading him around for the mass public, to gift giving and turkey? LOL... I'm not a religious person, but doesn't this seem a bit odd? They then threw in a man who dresses in red, gets pulled around by reindeer in the sky and elves... How did this happen? When I think of elves I tend to think of Lord of the Rings, and wonder, what would a 100 something year old elf who can shoot a bow, and kick ass want to do in a workshop, working for some fat guy who can apparently wink and wiggle his nose and slide down a chimney? LOL...
Some random thoughts that just came to my mind...
I do know this though, I have 3 god-daughters, and they love them some presents, and they love the act of ripping apart sparkly and shiny paper just to see what they now get to play with. In the end, their happiness, and seeing their smile(s) is what makes this time of the year worth it to me... even if poor Legolas is stuck in a snowy wonderland with no giant elephants to take down, lol.
Hope everyone has fun, and is safe in the chaos that will en-surely happen when you remember that one person who you forgot to buy a gift for and need to head out on the 22nd or 23rd. Give someone a hug, and be kind, and let that person into the lane so they're not cutting you off... everyone is going to be in the same boat...
Happy holidays
