Shit Son, I'm so excited.
I've been looking to adopt a dog for awhile, and I checked the humane society website today to find a blue heeler named Dee Dee. I grew up with a heeler and didn't want to get another one for fear of replacing my childhood buddy. This girl is a blue though, and my dear Ozzie was a red so they really aren't that much alike.
I've e-mailed them (the humane society) back and forth to find that Dee Dee is kind of timid, and needs a bit of training. I have more than enough money to live off of for the summer and have been looking for an excuse to stay home (it's pretty bad when your musician boyfriend is nagging you to get a job). She seems like the perfect city dog. Big enough to scare off creeps when we go walking at night, yet small enough that you don't feel guilty about having a dog in the city. PLUS our new place is right by nose hill park, a huge wildlife reserve area where we could go walking together.
I wanted to start jogging, to get myself into better shape. I walk almost every day for about a 1/2 hour or so, but I feel like such an old lady out with my walkman (yeah I still have mine too) in my sweats, putsing through suburbia. I've actually gotten into jogging a few times, but just as I get good enough that my lungs stop burning I get lazy and quit. I'm naturally thin so I don't really have any motivation to exercise. A dog would be perfect, who can say "but, but. . . the simpsons are on!" to that adorable little face.
Squee. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, in case everything doesn't pan out. Squee! I hope it does!
