I've started applying for jobs.

I really want to get my sleeve done, and I'd feel a bit like a pampered bitch if I didn't at least make enough money over the summer to pay for it. I have the cash now, but I haven't worked or been in school for over 2 months. Not exactly the conditions for spoiling myself.

I did however splurge...

I'm sure the enterance/coat checkers still pull in a decent amount. Not as much as a waitress' do but it must be worth it. Good luck on the job search, I've been fairly lazy with mine the last month, but hopefully I'll land something soon too.

I FUCKING HATE FILE FORMATS!!!

Why, oh why can't all wordprocessing files be in the same format. I don't want pictures, I don't want a slide show, I just want to be able to submit a resume to a company with the tabs, bolding and alignment that I put on it. I just tried to convert my resume from .wps to.doc and it fucked everything...

It's registration day!

In 20 minutes I'll have my courses for Fall and Winter all sorted out. I made a schedule up already and I hope there's still openings in the classes I want.

Sadly though, the U of C didn't give me transfer equivalents for all the bio courses I've taken, just the credits. I really wanted to get a bio minor but if...

Shit Son, I'm so excited.

I've been looking to adopt a dog for awhile, and I checked the humane society website today to find a blue heeler named Dee Dee. I grew up with a heeler and didn't want to get another one for fear of replacing my childhood buddy. This girl is a blue though, and my dear Ozzie was a red so they...

The most annoying thing about living in the 'burbs is the abundance of lame teenagers.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those old folks who wants everyone to get off my dam lawn -which my landlord is currently trying to whip into shape and I am reluctant to help with. It's the kids that have something to prove that bother me, they always...

aw man i miss my walkman. duran duran, the cranberries, the sugarcubes, and DANSE MIX 96 on the bus - klassic!
really, is nothing sacred? sure, there were knife fights at school on the occasion [it was a regional public school, that was ATTACHED to a french high school WTF were these people thinking???????] but there was very little bragging about it.
it wasn't even that long ago - i only graduated hs in 2003. we're in the same generation, kids are just effin nutso?

Rich kids are usually the dumbest as they feel they get "street cred" for acting all tough and idiotic. I grew up in a neighborhood that doesn't have the best reputation, and most several people I went to elementary school with landed in jail at least once. Even then, the people with the biggest mouths are usually the most cowardly.

Media and technology are ruining the children of today, especially since most parents don't care enough to take a stand.

P.S. I had several Walkmans. tongue

Sigh of relief.

I have all my stuff, and have been unpacking like crazy. Going to the U of C tomorrow to get my transfer credit sorted out and to put in my volunteer application for CJSW.

I should really get on finding a job.

It snowed yesterday. It's June. What the fuck.

Serving jobs are plentiful, as long as you can put up with the random idiots you will encounter, but you will encounter random idiots all the live long day here in Calgary so you might as well make some money at it. drix is right, we have snow in Calgary until august, but it only lasts about an hour so it's just weird and not insane. Welcome.

I got sick overnight.

I'm crashing at my friends' place and I thought it would be okay to sleep with the window open. It must have rained in the middle of the night because I woke up to a really sore throat and back at 5am. Alan actually got up and got me some losenges and tyenol from the sev. Best boyfriend ever.

So that...

One of those not so lazy Sundays.

Getting everything ready for the big move this upcoming Saturday. I had such a good lead on all this stuff but then the weather got nice and I fucked off to go walk the seawall on Saturday. Trying to choreograph our possession date with the arrival of our stuff (I got movers, which sounds really yuppie but it's...

O long weekend. I had another one of those days where I just wandered around the city eating things. I'm really going to miss that about Vancouver, getting wherever I want (which is often in the direction of food) easily.

I finally did all the calulations necessary to see if I can live off student loans for the next three years. Looks like I'll have...

I found a new place! It's a 2 bedroom top floor of a house with a fireplace and huge kitchen. My best bud is taking the suite below us, so we don't really have to worry about noise. The only downside is it's a little, no no it's really suburban. Our neighbourhood is called "Edgemont Estates". That's kind of how Calgary is set up though....

Calgarians do seem to hate walking...

I find 95% of calgary really suburban. Hell even the urban areas seem suburban lol. Edgemont... that's right by Nose Hill park right? I barely know the north of calgary as I have lived in the south my entire time here.

The best thing I find is doing things in person. So figure out who you need to talk to, and when you are able to meet up with them for a quick 5 minute chat. Good luck with everything!
