some random stuff

firstly...what is going on with the recent sets?
i don't really like a bunch of them..particularly Feb 6...wtf?

I did like:elza, sinthia, napalm, and nya

Holy set overload! Then theres the hopeful sets - which can be good too... wink

Hope you heal well dear

I love Dead Meadow - I believe they're from NY...

panthro:
yeah, the sets have been poo for a few weeks now. i think many of these were sets from a while back and were just getting released because they are so back loaded. they did it last year as well.

you are one of the few women, that get a hairstyle, and slightly dif versions of it, and make it look amazing always! much like jennifer aniston back on friends.

put as much aloe on your burn as you can, that will help it heal nice.

those commercials kill me, i know how you feel. frown

That is a totally bitchin' poster. As somebody who has never seen a single movie with the guy, I've pretty much had no opinion on his death, but I'm totally psyched for that movie.

And that skirt is great.
panthro:
that poster is outstanding, i actually want one for myself.

you look slammin' as usual in your goth get up!

have fun at the doors tribute show!

ok so I took some more "interesting" shots
apparently the subject of those test shots wasn't exciting enough for some haha

however, I did find it a challenge to take self portraits with this new lens (50mm f/1.4)
though this lens makes beautiful images and has great depth of field...it doesn't work well to take self portraits because there is no zooming in and out...

RE: Bookshelf picture.

My old drummer used to live a block away from Stephen King's house. He has ridiculous gates in front of it that look more or less exactly like something you might expect.

There are things on that shelf that I much prefer over Stephen King, but he's the only one who's house I've driven past.
panthro:
haha, your pics are fantastic and have been for some time now. being a new yorker, and knowing where and what you are shooting, i really appreciate the quality and the close to home feel they have.

and heath has been known for his love for pills. at least that is what i was to believe. it does suck at such a young age with the world in front of him, falls into this catagory of tragedy. i actually was a big fan of him. i loved him in a knights tale, cassanova, 10 things i hate about you, and i know i'm gonna love batman!

oh and i love the feet in the boyfriends face pic as well.

thanks everyone!

you've been very helpful!

i've decided to go with the 50mm f/1.4

So it was a bit awkward sunday night because I was still a little pissed at him.

monday was better. i went and helped him out with some stuff at work and then we went out for lunch/dinner.

we still need to talk though. we've been dating since september so i just want some clarity. you know, just in case, because there are definitely some other guys I might want to hook up with.

photography lens question

I shoot with a Canon Rebel XT
I like lowlight photography...no flash...no tripod
so i was recommended the 85mm f/ 1.8

but then I noticed the 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS (Image Stabilizer)

I'm not really good with all of these technical terms for the lenses...i don't really understand the difference between the 2 apart from IS..

is the IS worth the extra money?...

Ok, your F stops are basically the size of the lens aperture (the hole through which your camera takes in light). The smaller the number (F 1.8, F2) the larger the hole, and thus the more light you get to the film or digital sensor. For low light photography you want as large an aperture as possible, which means smallest number. That's why you've been recomended the f 1.8 lens.
IS is not really neccessary for what you want. At F4.5 (the maximum size apeture on the IS lens), you're still going to have slower shutter speeds than the 85mm at F1.8 (and so blurrier pictures). It doesn't stop the image from bluring if people are moving, just helps prevent camera shake (your hand moving slightly while the shutter is open). If they did an F1.8 lens with IS and you had the money to spend I'd say go for it, but the F4.5 IS lens really isn't suitable for what you want.

I'd recomend you find a decent canon lens with F1.4. You'll be taking better pictures in lower light conditions than both of the above, and I think it'll still be cheaper than the IS lens. I don't know what the maximum ISO setting is for a Rebel XT but I'm sure you'd be fine in most night time indoor locations at about 1600 ISO with an F1.4, particularly if you're not printing your pictures and so can take very big pictures and reduce them in size.

Hope that helps a bit wink
