I just got in about ten minutes ago. I had the best night I think I have had in over a year. A friend of mine set me up on a date. Now normally I would have said no because the women he wanted to set me up with shares none of the same interests as me. We actually have next to nothing in common,...

Hey, I'm glad you had a good time! You deserve it. It's kind of odd . . . I always thought I could never have a good time with someone unless we had a lot in common, but I've been proven wrong. Big time.

I'm kind of with you on the few friends thing. More so in so-called real life than on this site I guess. I like to keep my circle small so that every relationship is meaningful and I can give a lot of myself to it.

You've made me that happiest boy in the world! I should change my profile pic back to see what we look like side by side.

Well I finally heard back from the Rez. There records show no one living on either Nez Perce reservation with my family name. frown So either they have all moved away or are as I feared. My father and half brother as well as myself are all that remain of our family name.

On happier notes. I have officially joined the intertribal council for Maine and...

I am meeting with a college about getting grants to study Native rights and land rights. This makes me very happy. Finally being on the right path to doing something good for my people. Now what are the odds of a poor native boy with limited public schooling getting into an Ivy league school wink Life is good.....Today.

A friend of mine just informed me that...

Well I'm disappointed that you didn't find anything on the rez. That doesn't mean much though... try googling your name and different states... you might come up with relatives that have moved. Plus then you can find out who your other relatives are and what other family names to look for on the rez.

If you want some help I'd be happy to assist as I've done this before.

smile

Thanks for the b-day wishes! biggrin

A native boy in the Ivy League? Damn, you may be the first one! Good luck with all that. I might be interested in the quills. I'm in the process of stretching my lobes and could use some cheap stuff to wear until I work up to 0ga.

I've come so far, I'm behind again
I wish so hard, I was there again
All that I want are things I had before
All that I need I never needed more
All of my questions are answers to my sins
and all of my endings are waiting to begin
I know the way but I falter
I've seen so much I'm blind again
I...

I am realizing that I may not be the most patient person in the world. I detest the whole waiting process. I have contacted the Colville Reservation about locating my family. I am unsure if I even have family left. So I've been playing the waiting game now for a couple of days. I really hope they can help me in some way. There my...

i hear you on that "missing out on more than they could ever know" part. i cant remember the last time my dad was at one of my birthdays, or x-mass, or highschool graduation,etc.. I know this sounds cheesy but i seriously believe that we're not thrown anything we cant handle and if it doesn't break us it makes us. Cliche i know, but its my mantra that helps me get through all that stuff. Send news if you hear anything!

Guess its time to update again. I just went out and bought a digital camera. Maybe I'm not the brightest when it comes to these sort of things but I swear I need a four year degree to work this damn thing. It comes with a huge booklet thats like 350 pages and thats just the table of contents. frown I got it set up the...

I have been reading an incredible book called "Native American Testimony" The book chronicles half a millennium of history from the native american point of view. I wanted to include hear a short insert from the book on the converting of native americans to christianity and catholicism from one natives point of view.

"We where at the church where the white man stood up and...

hey, ok so this is the performance artist i wanted to mention cuz she focus' on alcoholism among native women. her names reona brass and she does this piece where she's drinking and spills beer. she realises what a mess she's in so she scoops up the beer into a bowl. then she has an epiphany. so she starts milking herself (cuz she just had a baby in real life) and adds the milk to the beer. the milk is the sustanance of new life and as she adds it to the beer it purifies the poison of her life. then she drinks the mixure in ceremony to heal herself. its really bizare but i love how its so spiritual. aparently performance art is getting big among native people.

I had some problems with that movie. 3 actually.
1. the little girl would have been mangled in some way. Not that I'm into hurting children but these guys are suppose to be stone cold killers and she didn't have a scratch.
2. He would have killed the woman in the bar. He said he would kill everyone in the way but he spared the woman but killed the guy. Once again I'm not about hurting women but thats what he said.
3. He would not have bled to death. They would have shot him.
The movie was obviously suppose to be grim and they stopped short. I know this wasn't Denzels or even the directors fault. It's mostly hollywoods fault. There's no way they would have greenlighted that.
I think I saw his boredom when he did "John Q". He's reaching for something to do. That's why he's doing plays again. He should direct. Antwon Fisher was pretty good.

I've always been a fan of poetry. Written and spoken word. I've written for quite a while now. This is the first thing I've written for others to see. It's spoken word so bare with it as the emotion doesn't flow off of paper the way it does of tongues.
If you relate I'm sorry

You left before I was born
COWARD
I needed you!...

I'll do what I can. My prof was sick last week so we didn't have class, so I didn't get to ask him about Nez Perce. What are you looking for, exactly? Just various words from various languages and how to pronounce them? Pronunciation keys for different letters in different languages?

I can already help a little with Cherokee (Tsa-la-gi) and should be able to help with Navajo soon. Tribal webpages can sometimes be useful for what you're doing, too. Our tribe has all kinds of language-related stuff online, including sound files of people pronouncing words.

Painted the store today. There's still a few more touch up's to do tomorrow. Though tomorrow will mainly be moving supplies into the store. I'm so amped for the store to open.

I'm really kind of nervous about this weekend. See my weekly practice is on Sunday. My instructor (...

Interesting selection, nice to see here on SG wink

My favorite poets are poeple who's names I forget. A one time performance at a comedy club downtown, a woman spoke about dating as a bisexual woman, well I suppose you'd have to be there, but it was exquisite. There is a cultural exchange center here and they are constantly having performances, from quiet little one light chair on stage things to great big theatrical productions with props and everything. Very California I think. For here anyway.

I keep thinking about those moccasins, I can't wait to go to the store. I'm not sure but if I remember correctly there are some great beaches in that area.

Oh and Jane is a magazine, a more brainy fashion magazine. -not a whole book-I'm not that good-yet wink
anitalife:
Hi back to ya! I really like that second poem. I don't have much experience with performance poetry, but I know a thing or two about written poetry. wink Some of my favorites are Anne Carson, Wallace Stevens, T.S. Eliot, Mary Oliver, Sherman Alexie, Louise Erdrich, and lots of stuff in Latin. I could go on all day . . .

Sometimes when I'm alone
I cry because I'm on my own
The tears I cry are bitter and warm
They flow with life, yet take no form
I cry because my heart is torn
and I find it difficult to carry on
If I had an ear to confide in
I would cry among my treasured friends
but who do you know that stops that...
