Fuck this.
I'm going to see T, and forget about everybody's whining bullshit.
chainlink:
T who ? Mr. T ? Cause that would be cool.

wink
neopop:
T is Tawes, aka Dennis Tawes, the painter who reluctantly relocated his family here from Branson, MO. He's a great guy to discuss art, or avoid the aforementioned discourse. His wife Linda is a sweetheart, daughter Kate is the consummate Gothic Lolita. Son Sean is a lady killer about town, and has begun recording with my son when he gets time off from working at the Riverfront Renaissance Arts Center. They are our town's beloved Adam's Family.

I have about 9-10 recent works that I'm feeling willing to show this month. Isabelle and Amy will be tickled pink... but that's entirely their own business. This month I dress the window of Bogart's with my new, and refabricated pieces. There will be Soup Cans.
Elwood, the World's Ugliest dog will make an appearance.
Best of all, will be Bike Week. I love when...

I've been working in 2-D for quite some time, in fact, all o the time I've had the new studio set up. The show on the 6th is rapidly approaching. I've got plenty of new work cooking. How glad was I to remember the copper de-constructed Liberty to add as a second 3-D piece for the window. The natural blackening and natural patina are so...

I've spent a good deal of the last 36 hrs. in the studio. I think I'm working on three paintings... actively. I think it's wise to keep some works open to return to later when there's a stronger sense of what is needed.
"Previous works hold answers to those yet to be created."-- Kanevsky
My spacial relationships have been 2-D for far too long.

I think it is good to stew on things sometimes versus rushing through to the finish.

Glad your friend is alive and well. Must be a complete relief.

Listening to the Velvet's full version of Heroin, feeling very grateful to learn that Chris is alive and well. He was in China, teaching modern conversational English at an all girls school. That sonofabitch has probably taught them more sexual positions, to boot. It feels good... maybe not quite as good as I remember heroin to have been. Well, it's on less friend I've lost...

It's been a very long time since the earthquake in Sichuan Province, if you are uanble to find someone. I haven't heard from Chris, or see any sign that he's even able to get online. He's got a satellite capable Toshiba to best broadcast from the Far East. It looks grim so far.
velvet_petal:
I'm fortunate not to know anyone out there. It is awful and unfathomable. I hope your friend is alright.
chainlink:
I hope you get word from your friend soon. I just got an e-mail from a good friend of mine that was at a granite carving symposium at SIAS University. I had know idea where exactly that was related to the quake. Still don't really, but he wrote that he was fine. So I am relieved.

Yeah, Johnson I have a bit of respect for on some levels. He is very philanthropic in a lot of ways. I've met him a few times at various opening at the Grounds for Sculpture. A jolly nice guy with a generous heart. His work. . . well. Lots of ick there.
Kinkade on the other hand, I can honestly say I share VP's sentiments exactly. He makes me want to hurl.
Him and Wyland. Frickin Robert Wyland actually has two galleries here on the same damn street, and something over 30 across the country.
Arg ! mad
I knew Warren Kimble when I lived in Vermont. He's probably the only huge commercially successful artist that I know and like. I'm not a big fan of folk art, but he's tops in his game. Much respect for him.

Best of luck with New Jersey Hate. It sounds like a realistic theme wink

Tonight, Zane's playing two sets--fist he warms up for Kevin Smith at Revelation Records, then he's off to Bogart's to do an enagement booked months ago.

Those kittens are absolutely adorable smile
thanks.

I do hope to find some studio space. Just have to see how that pans out. I've got lots of baggage/equipment.
And while I'm not exactly looking for a break from stone work, I'm open to exploring some other opportunities, if I can find any.

I recall a bit of a rant by Leonardo that I read somewhere, something to the effect of the contrast between painters and sculptors, not verbatim of course but he spoke of painters in their fine salons and clothing, with attendants, ladies, and musicians hanging around while they work and the sculptor looks rather like a baker that has fallen in a vat of his flour.
I feel that a bit.

You sound so the proud papa...and with good reason.

Un-fukin'believable...not 6 months ago, the present administration had refused to acknowledge an economic slowdown with the momentum to portend... well the situation we now find ourselves in. Oil has exceeded $115 a barrel, and I'm starting to feel like a character in a post-apocalyptic novel, but still in the early chapters.

We now are to the point of -NOW- seeing rice being rationed... right here,...

Shit, I can't believe that both of my posts over this weekend aren't up. There's been a lot of technical issues with respect to groups and messaging, too. I'll have to get back to this later. A lot of noteworthy (to me, anyway) things occurred in the last few days.

Tomorrow we have an appt. to have Lucky's cat of 14 years put down. She's...

Aw man, I'm so sorry.
I had to let my dog go after 16 years last April. I know hard hard it can be.
Billie looks like such a cutie too.
I think helping your helpless friends out however you can is one of the most noble things a person can do.
And hard.
Good luck with everything.

Here it is again, third Friday. That means I have to get around town, to see what works of mine are given space, and pop into Amethyst, and Isabelles's galleries to drop something new on them both. It's a good to have that loose and accommodating relationship. Now I'm off to get out... a busy day ahead.
