Interesting hearing him speak and seeing all of the gear he has sitting around.

Dogs start as puppies, full of silliness with wagging tails and glowing eyes and immediately they worm their way into your heart.

You raise them right, you give them structure, but most of all you give them love and puppies turn into dogs.

Dogs become companions.

Fuzzy companions become family.

Then you get that call. The one that says we were trying to reach you

Hopefully here pretty quick this house will sell and I can get my butt back out on the road again. I think im going to run down around corpus christi texas and see how I like the area,...

Corpus Christi is the area I have my eye on as well. Seems like a combination of the advantages of Texas and Florida.

Well, I have a Detroit series 60 (hey, company truck) and a 10-speed autoshift... and I carry a lot of heavy loads. Hills Science Diet is a big customer of ours and a typical pet food load is anywhere from 40-45,000lbs.

A lot of drivers have negative things to say about the auto-shift but I have to tell ya... I love it. It may be "tedious" going up and down hills in places like WV but when I thought about what I said it almost seemed stupid. I set the cruise, turn on the engine brake and it takes care of the rest. If it has to drop to 9,8.7 whatever while climbing, it does so itself and I don't have to touch anything. When I crest and begin to descend I can move the paddle into "L" and that'll hold it back into 9th on the way down so I rarely have to touch the brakes. So in retrospect I suppose I should shut the fuck up about it since that's pretty darn easy.

If it were my truck, I'd get myself an APU. But for the time being driving theirs... I'm just going to idle. Or send them my bills for Idle-Aire locations.

yes i am really glad too now that i have seen the car. BUt it is hard because i have been so broke for so long and struggling to pay of the debts i had has been such a major focus that its was hard to not think about how this will cost me. On the other hand its forced me to take action, so maybe I will do more about the debts even though they are a bit bigger now.

=) Thank you.. Im glad you liked it. Im rather fond of that photo myself.

The past few weeks have been very interesting. I have been going through lots of changes in my life. The first of which is I am no longer working for my dad, he and I cannot see eye to eye on things and it has been very frustrating trying to deal with these things, and I am actually very relived it is over. As well...

congrats on getting things going as planned....always a nice thing to see hard work pay off!

sorry to hear what happened with your dad....its odd fighting with your parent. hopefully these changes can help ease things between the two of you, though.

so hopefully things move smoothly for you in the upcoming years, and all the hard work and sacrifices are shown as being worth it!

I'm surprised to even hear you say it. I was under the impression it was more of a ways to an end for ya... that being getting back to school. And it's been sounding like that plan is underway.

Heck, I only wish I could motivate myself to get back to college. Perhaps some day I'll find the drive and discipline necessary to turn in that direction. Don't have it now though, so I keep on doing this type of work and I'm more or less ok with that.

It's funny how I have constantly had that itch about getting my own truck again since returning to this company. But like I said I'm going to (try to) do it for a year before I make a change. They're good people to work for at least. Later if I decide to buy or lease something I'll need to decide who. Sorta thinking about Landstar. Or I could always get another straight truck and do expediting.

Abu Musab AlZarquai is dead. Today is a happy day.

I would like to extend my thanks to the fine men and women of our armed forces who have been putting thier lives on the line every day. May you all return home to your loved ones swiftly and safely, Bravo Zulu.
