OK. I should warn you though, I usually read books written by dead white guys. Have found few present day authors of whom I am enamoured.
One of my favouite authors is W. Somerset Maugham. He is a superlative writer of short stories. Any collection of his short stories would do. He also has some wonderful novels. You might want to have a glance @ "The Razor's Edge".
Also like Graham Greene. Try "The Heart of the Matter" or "The Quiet American". He also has some wonderful short stories.
Let me know what you think. Any suggestions for me? I'm always looking for good books. Cheers.

"here comes the sun,.."
theonetheonlydc:
here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Little darlin' it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darlin' it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Little darlin' the smiles returning to their faces
Little darlin' it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little darlin' I feel the ice is slowly meltin'
Little darlin' it seems like years since it's been clear
Here come the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Here come the sun, here comes the sun
It's all right, it's all right
dharma_bum:

merman!! merman!!
applerecords1251:
the name reminded me of Zoolander when he is working in the mines with his dad and getting the black lung. Then they go drinking and his commercial comes on and his dad is disgusted that his son is a mermaid and he says "merman, cough, merman!!". That is what I thought when I saw the name.
