HENDRA MURAL FINISHED AT LAST!
After all the workshops and all the bad weather we've been having, we finally finished the mural in Hendra in Truro..... all 40 metres of it! It's been a rollercoaster ride for sure, hard work too, but one of the most satisfiying artistic achievements that i've been involved in! It's certainly the largest piece of artwork that i've attempted!
The kids that we were giving the workshops to for the last 2 months have been totally amazing! They were a bit wary at first, but eventually opened up a bit and have been real stars! Their skills and confidence have developed amazingly!
We started the whole process of painting this mammoth wall a couple of weeks ago. We managed one whole day, and then got rained off for the rest of the week due to the fabulous British weather! Then the following week we got a whole weeks worth of beautiful weather!
The whole thing took about 6 days to paint, with Friday being our last day of applying any paint!
Most of the designs for the wall had been completed a few works before we started working on it, but we had to improvise on a few things on the last few days concerning the character development!
We managed to get through any problems though, and came out the other side with a fabulous piece of public artwork!
It's kind of weird once you've finished a project so big, it's like a piece of you is missing! So here's to the next one, we're already looking into new locations...... i can't wait!
