if you lose control of the steering wheel, shit can get crazy. it takes so much strength and concentration not to try to hit the guard rail...
if you are on cruise control for too long, you miss out on opportunities and just kinda surf through life without accomplishing anything in life. sure you'll have a smooth life, but its like a pleasant stream you can't get out of to reach higher points in life.
then of course, if you run out of gas, then you gotta get more gas and you know what that

Well, yeah, but the middle class folks whose houses are filled to the 2nd story windows with sewage didn't have much say in whether their government would be prepared for a hurricane either, and it's not as if it hasn't been a bummer for them. Bear in mind LA and in particular New Orleans are corrupt on a scale peered only by Baltimore and Washington DC.
I'd hate to lose every friggin' thing I own and have to find work in another city that, frankly, is 100% likely to get tired of looking at me and my fellow "displacees" after the honeymoon wears off. It sucks all around, but of course it sucks more if you're poor. Which is the point. It always sucks more if you're poor.

August has to be my least favorite month- Summer is ending and apparently because of this, everyone kind of goes crazy. In addition, I'm moving at the end of the month, and there's all the wholesome goodness that comes with that .
