Well that has been a fortnight filled with what-the-fuck.
It all started with reading Adria's blog about her EDS diagnosis. Being a registered healthcare professional I know the dangers of internet self diagnosis but one video didn't so much as ring a bell as set off Westminster Abbey. Having sufficiently scared the shit out of myself I went to my GP, who was able to see me the same day to talk about things. After I explained what I was thinking about the doctor tried to put my mind at ease by saying that EDS is pretty unusual and that didn't present with symptoms serious enough for that diagnosis. While none of my symptoms are as serious or debilitating as those cases I have read about I went through a potted life history and at every point the GP seemed surprised at the evidence I was presenting (family history, hilariously stretchy skin etc). Luckily she knows that I'm in the business so seemed less inclined to patronise me. I'm going back next week after she's reviewed my medical records and looked into tests which we can perform.
And then yesterday she emailed me saying that she'd been "meditating on life and how I want mine to be, change and improvements that I need to start making, and other important matters are in mind". Which has pretty much stopped me thinking about anything else since then.
