Yay, it's the weekend! I am a little tired, I went to bed at 2 AM last night, woke up at 9...that's only 7 hours of sleep (the horror!)
For some reason my profile page was wiped clean. I can't count how many times this has happened, but it's really getting annoying. I spend 30 minutes adding all my likes, dislikes, etc...and then a couple weeks later the whole profile is blank.
Right now I've been reading Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. It's nice to take a break from the seriousness of fiction and the fact(ness?) of non-fiction and read something that's just entertaining. The Barnes and Noble clerk mentioned his first 3 books are weak, but I am enjoying it. They are short books too, so I don't have to worry about investing a month into one book (like Neil Stephenson's Cryptonomicon, which is just gathering dust at the moment).
Pratchett also has the charming British humor that I enjoy so much, similar to Douglas Adams (and I plan on rereading The Hitchiker's Guide soon). This sparked some questions about my own writing. What if my current horror story isn't so scary after all, but humorous? How will this affect the relationships with my characters? How will this affect the plot? I love brainstorming.
I've been watching the first season of Buffy. I am on Episode 9 now and it's starting to get interesting. Sure the "Monster of the Week" episodes can be a little lame, but the well-written characters more than make up for the shortfalls.
I had a great time yesterday hanging out with some members of the SGSeattle group. I almost didn't go because I was so exhausted last night (and very nervous about meeting complete strangers)...but I went and don't regret it at all. I have been doing the same daily grind each day that it's nice to get out, socialize, and meet locals. I definitely want to go to the next outing!
Last Wednesday, Amazon finally delivered my missing game, Digital Devil Saga (Part 1) a full two weeks after I ordered it. It came as much of a suprise when later that evening UPS made another delivery...THE SAME GAME! I guess by some magical circumstance, they found my missing game and now I have two copies.
So what do I do with the extra copy? Should I sell it? Give it away? Return it to Amazon? Hmm...
