The True History of Thanksgiving

As school children, we were all taught the story of the "First Thanksgiving." It was the story of the Pilgrims and Native Americans, sharing a day of thanks for the harvest and for simple survival in a new land. At the time "Thank Days" were a common occurrence, used to mark significant events in the life of a community. These...

A thoughtful commentary on the holiday. Thank you for posting this.
Though not a Christian, I certainly respect any text that that can provide corrections to "popular" history.

I am so glad I am a man:

WHY MEN ARE NEVER DEPRESSED:

Men Are Just Happier People-- What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can be President. You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water...

Awesome. Well that pretty much sums everything up for us. I never thought of it that way. You're a genius!!

Well, I am not your typical girly girl so some of these things actually apply to me. But there are times when I wish I could be a man. There are certainly things that suck about being a female.

It was mealtime during an airline flight. 'Would you like dinner?' the flight attendant asked John, seated in front. 'What are my choices?' John asked. 'Yes or no,' she replied.

It certainly is a change and boy, do I love it already. Fresh air and clean water, deer in the snow in my own backyard. Coffee and smokes all day and cozy antique beds at night. It makes me really love the little things for sure. I just need to find a good pair of boots and gloves! It's so so beautiful up here though.
saraj:
Yeah, the Toasters were awesome! I saw them once before that also. They are great to dance to.

Sorry I haven't been around much the last few weeks, I've had a very busy work schedule.

This is also always a tough time of year for me personally. Oct. 23 to Nov. 10 include the anniversary of my mom's premature death of a heart attack (3 years ago now and I still think of her almost every day), the Marine Corps Birthday which brings...

I'm sorry to hear about your month ]:

Dead kemnedys are bomb, I listened to some punk and crust last night whilst drinking and playing cards. As for coffee, that would be grand but I've moved to upstate new York. Quite a climate change!
padre:
Yeah mine is an 01 and has 150000 miles too shocked

Sunday was one of those sweetly sad days. We moved out into the country about eight years ago. One of the first things we did was build a treehouse for my then 6-year-old son in a big Ash tree on the property. He made up all these wonderful designs for it before we actually got started and tried to help me build it. In the...

A Conversation with my Motorcycle

"Good morning baby," I said to the blond-haired, blue-eyed, Bavarian bitch in heat that is my motorcycle.

"It's perfect," she says to me.

"What's perfect?"

"Everything."

She was right. It was just over 40 F. I could see just a hint of my breath. The sky was clear and clean. Winds were calm, the air almost solid, the kind you...

I so need a road trip/motorcycle escape! Summers past have included 5 or 6 rallies, plus a 2-week summer vacation on the bikes where the three of us visit somewhere we've never been. Last summer, we cut out the vacation and most of the rallies because of finances, me starting a new job and Nanc getting laid off. This summer has held no rallies and...

Again, apologies for the wining in my last blog. It is not a normal thing for me so I am adding something positive to bury it.

I had a great ride in to work the other day. It's about 30 miles nearly due east from where I live. The sun was just up in a sky of broken clouds and you could see individual rays...
