I had a funtabulous yesterday. Spent all day with the spectacular girl with big brown eyes...*le swoon*. We hung out in a book store reading magazines together then we saw Napoleon Dynamite. so. fucking. funny.
Later the crew was round up to bike to the warehouse district for another sweaty warehouse art show/concert thingy.
While it seemed like a great idea at the time, this was probably not the wisest way to park our bikes.
The art was nice. I would've gotten more shots but my rechargeable batteries were not charged enough.
This is Comets on Fire. They are THE fucking rock psychedelic explosion. If you like that kind of thing you should check em out. They're on the Alternative Tentacles label now. Unfortunately, this was the last pic I took before the batteries completely died. I also cut off the lead guitarist/singer who was on the left...FOR SHAME!!!
The other bands were allright. Animal Collective was like...uhhh....Bright Eyes meets Syd Barret and the Flaming Lips in the 60's and taking lots and lots of acid. They had their moments...at least they had cool animal masks.
Then there was Black Dice. I guess they recently got rid of thier drummer and didn't replace him. So it was three dudes playing with a lot of effects and tape loops ala Merzbow and Throbbing Gristle. I, along with most of the audience, was nonplussed. I think they were too drunk.
Ahhhh Oakland...the cultural mecca of the East Bay.
hello.
