I'm OVER this whole "digital age" bullshit.
When someone can steal my bank card and spend $360 (when I only had $320 in there to begin with)...and then the BANK can charge me a total of $315 in OVERDRAFT fees...that's just fucking retarded.
So, I filed a claim and everyone was real friendly-like about it and they reversed the charges and the fees...
Then, they sent the "confirmation that some asshole stole my money" document to the wrong address...and RE-reversed their fees...not only overdrafting my account...but more importantly, it's FROZEN $240 in that account. That's my fucking WELFARE money, ladies and gentlemen...all because they sent that shit to the wrong address.
So...I treck back down to the bank and report the claim again...and everyone is real friendly-like about it, especially since we discovered it was simply a wrong address and not something more sinister... So, we decide to do it by FAX this time... I"m told to come back the next day when the fax will be there, I'll sign it, they'll fax it back, and life can go on as normal.
I come back the next day, no fax. Back on the phone with the fraud center and they promise to fax it again. This time the woman I'm sitting with offers to CALL me when the fax comes in, that way I don't have to treck all the way back down with the baby in tow for nothing. I'm annoyed, but satisfied.
I receive my call right around closing that the fax has arrived. I show up the next day only to find that while the fax ARRIVED, it apparently had gotten STUCK in the machine and is illegible and unsignable. Dude gets on the phone with the fraud folks and they decide to do it by EMAIL now. (thanks to customer service guy who had a friend in claims or whatever). They email it, we print it, I sign it, we fax it back...and I go home feeling satisfied that this will all be put right.
Not so. Two weeks go by and I keep checking my account, waiting for those fees to be reversed so I can get my welfare money out of the account...with no luck. I call up the bank and they explain that once the fee-reversal has been REVERSED...it can't be re-reversed... So, basically I'm up shits creek here. The lady put in a request that this matter be expidited since it's like, the fucking holidays and what not. I'm told to call back on Friday to check the status of my request. I keep checking the bank every day anyway though, because I BELIEVE!!!
And it's a good fucking thing I did...because at approximately 6am this morning, after admitting the baby was up for the day, I went ahead and checked my bank account...only to find that the NEW bank account, the one NOT hacked and NOT in the negative suddenly has a charge on it to the tune of $120 through my paypal account. I quickly jump over to my paypal to find that they've got a hold on that transaction due to "suspicious activity." I'm so grateful for that...however...after filing my own claim against that transaction I'm told that it can take up to 10 days for the claim to go through...which, if you don't feel like doing the math, takes us past Christmas.
So folks...that's offically $360 of OUR money, that we can't touch. Makes me feel pretty fucking stupid for spending so much money sending out holiday cards this year.
And, as if that wasn't bad enough...I woke up the other day, clicked on the tv to watch a little CNN, as usual, only to find my cable not working. Checked the tv here in the office and IT wasn't working either.
Called RCN only to find that they've switched over to digital signal without notifying me. I said, "I thought the switch was going to happen in February." The man explains through a thick Indian accent that February is the DEADLINE... I ask, "Where is my CNN?!" He says with what sounds like a shrug, "It's on channel 305 now." As if that makes everything better?! Now I have to spend my fucking day surfing 1000 channels to find my favorites because RCN decided to change it's entire channel line up without mailing me something first?!
Great.
I think I'm going to pack my bags and head into the woods where nobody can steal my identity, my money, or my CNN.
