So I am once again on the job search.

Not much new to report aside from that. I'm living a bum's life currently, and that's only enjoyable for a few days, five at the most. Once you hit that second business week, it just starts feeling like "loser." May hit a Labor Ready one of these mornings, just to get something going on money-wise.

I'm...

I guess that shows how amazingly mature and wisely communicative you are, then. Try deleting this one. wink

I graduated! Making the walk made a difference for me, so I'm glad I did it. I'm also glad I walked Winter Quarter, and not Spring, when commencement is outdoors at OSU's (in)famous football stadium. (The Horseshoe, or just "The 'Shoe," for those in the know.) Seating for 75,000 spectators and getting to sit in the June sun on the field for three hours? No...

Wow, I needed to update badly.

I graduate this quarter. Ideally. As long as I pass everything. Honestly, I probably only need to pass ASL. I think my "final" will be signing "Goodnight, Moon" to my class, which makes my hands shake a little bit. (I've always been able to bullshit/talk through "hands shaking" in public speaking, but for ASL, your hands are your bullshit/talking...

It's almost Xmas! WAHOO!!

I'm actually very happy this year at this time. I'm usually not depressed, but I almost always feel like I just want the year to be over with. I'm very happy with this time of year this year, and I'm thankful.

Hope the rest of you have a happy holiday season filled with good cheer.

School is going well so far, but I still can't wait for it to be over. Or can I? The Ohio job market is... not robust.

My internship this quarter is exciting so far. On I'm on a script team for a Dr. MLK Jr. Day celebration that Columbus has held every year for the better part of two decades. We're exploring lesser-known words of...

Thanks to all for the well wishes on my b-day. I was really cooled on even caring about this one (35) until I started getting all the messages, texts, and calls. Thanks a lot, from my closest IRL friend to my newest SG buddy.

Summer job is sadly now over, and only a scant few weeks until school is back in session. I am probably...

I am amazed at how much I am looking forward to the summer job. I think the combination of work and school during the school quarters (I'm not taking classes over summer) is probably a big factor, but considering the sweat and dirt involved, it's a little amazing to me how much I'm anticipating the labor.

It probably is the same part of my personality...

Mid-quarter finds me happy. Mid-quarter is a bit of a stretch, however. I still have way too many weeks before my next paycheck, that's for certain.

Hope you are all well in SG land.

How in god's name did I miss this? Good job talking that guy down from a ledge, but he got right back up there again.
katieesq:
It was a pretty epic reread. I'm sad I didn't get in on it. I read the first three paragraphs of the story when it first came out, said, "pfffft," and moved on.

If he gets another article published, I'm losing all my faith in SG staff.

The cats are going crazy because the birds outside seem firmly convinced that it's spring. Dumb, dumb birds.

They were talking on AM radio (i forget what idiot i was listening to) about they had damn near 10,000 people. I talked to a couple Cleveland Cops i am friends with and they chuckled when i asked. One was sitting in a squad car watching the event because it was a typical rainy day in Cleveland.

He said mostly what he saw was racists complaining about a black president, people complaining about socialism and a handful of people complaining about unfair taxation. He also said there was no where near that many people, maybe 1500-2000. He said the organization was poor, the message was poor and when he got out of his cruiser people asked "What's going on over there?" and he replied with "I really have no idea".

He then complimented me as a liberal democrat, he said at least when liberals protest there is no doubt what they are protesting.

theyve been doing that in my neck of the woods too. bastards.

Wowee...

Right now I'm looking at SG next to my girl who is playing Fallout II. (Not III)

...while we are listening to Mary Poppins, which is playing on a VCR (!) behind us.

I love my life. I just need this quarter to be over. This scum-suckin' video project. Ugh.

So another quarter is nearly at its end, and another Thansgiving is rolling into view.

I am thankful that I am almost done with school, and doubly thankful that I am, as yet, still enjoying it.
I am thankful that I have such a wonderful woman in my life, and I am thankful that we share our home.
I am thankful for my health, and...

But I really was drinking tequila! Actually, I just started taking Lithium and it's been making me insane... and yet I still drank the tequila.

I'm not usually so emotionally invested... I always oppose those who I perceive as "bullies" but I don't usually "care."

Not sure what that is all about but I am hoping I get over it.

wink

Yes, I just thought I would include that for the less, er, OBSERVANT readers in the forum.

Wow, first new post since March 15th? I suck.

Summer was great. I worked my ass off in a warehouse, but it was a nice warehouse. It is the storage/fulfillment center for the educational publishing company where my girlfriend works.

Nerd cards has been lame lately. Nobody here cares. biggrin

RPG'ing nerdishness has been great, and passing out trick-or-treat candy is going to be FUN! My...

biggrin It is very difficult to argue with people who need the simplistic, I understand. I just forget with that particular issue because it irks me. It would be nice if the boards were a bar, I think that would be an interesting but long...long conversation.

I agree that mathematically speaking it would probably add jibber jabber wocky to the conversation; since the details are stretching back a very long time.

Of course, I'm also of the opinion that we just don't know yet; with regards to what "animals" wink are thinking. Liv

Something else that is a complete aside but did you read any of the articles about Amazon parrots and dialects? I found that stuff fascinating.

I guess I just don't see what you have. For years on this site, Christians and SUV drivers were persecuted. Now it seems to be funny that there is so much venomous hatred towards Christianity and the claim is that Athiests have been persecuted the entire time. Now, I have been gone for a year or so but I know one thing- it is not in any way, popular to be a Christian here.

I don't believe that most Christians in the ELCA are hateful and divisive and homophobic. My congregation is not the only one that preaches tolerance. My grandparents were midwesterners who were raised to be tolerant, kind, compassionate, and loving of their fellow man and they moved to the West Coast in '66. My grandfather walked his family out of a church that preached about segregation and racism and said it wasn't "Christian" and that he wouldn't be a part of it. Several families followed him.

There will always be good and bad in everything. My family taught me that no matter what everyone is equal, everyone is a child of God, and we should see everyone as human. We may be flawed, we may be different, we may make different decisions in life, etc. but we are still the same human beings and there is more than just any one thing that defines us.

To be honest, my nChristian family has been the most liberal and compassionate example in my life. It's really frustrating to see people villify and write off something that has given me so much. I'm not a bible thumper, I don't even go to Church these days. I just know that to sit by and watch someone admonish something that has given me such peace is frustrating and hurtful.

I know that we will never agree and that's okay. I just want us to be able to have a discussion without someone asserting their superiority. Maybe you didn't intend that, but that is what I've felt.
