So long Hawaii! You've done me fine.
I know it's a little uncouth to mix business and pleasure, but I managed to get some work done while I was down here. The lodge in Cottage Grove emailed me back and gave me free reign on a date to visit! I also got into contact with Tiny Tavern in Eugene for a possible August show, so I'm hoping we're in the mix. No reply from them yet, but I sent the email yesterday at around 10pm West Coast time. Also, as it turns out, my friend Brian McAuley (who seems to be in a different band every time I talk to him) is playing a show with a band Skyshatter made friends with back in the day- Kings and Vagabonds! I'll be able to kill two birds with one stone and hopefully hash out a coherent gig schedule with both of them. The band's itiniery is already starting to look increasingly full and happy.
Parasailing in Hawaii may have been the most peaceful thing I've experienced. It's not the adrenaline rush of being on a stage... it's almost the opposite. It's floating through the skies in almost absolute silence. For once in what seems to be months, my mind wasn't on the stresses of the band or school or relationships or work... it was just me, the chute, the line, and the wind... maybe skydiving will be as cool too. Ha... ha... well, it's something to think about.

That, my friends, is the creator of my favorite computer game, Freelancer, returning triumphantly to announce the biggest space simulator ever. I am literally building a PC from scratch just to play this thing. It's also inspiring the hell out of me to get back into technical artistry- basically building vehicles on graph paper. I'm rusty, as I haven't done that since... early high school, but I'm so wanting to make planes and ships for this game... this will be my WoW.

That's a blog. See you on the mainland!
