Hmm... Time for a new post. I'm FINALLY getting to go back out to sea on the 27th of this month. IT's ABOUT DAMN TIME!! I've been stuck on the beach for about 6 months now. Six months of no sailing has put quite a massive financial boot in my ass! I don't like it... The good news however, is that my next rotation will be 71 days long rather than the usual 58 to 60. That will help a little... I'm also working on a new ship. My old ship was the Oscar Elton Sette out of Honolulu, HI. My new ship is the Oscar Dyson ported out of Kodiak, Alaska. I've worked on it before. In fact all of the "at sea" photos in my SG album are from my prior cruise on the Dyson. Lots of bald eagles up there. Huge birds with gigantic nests. Seriously, their nests aren't made out of twigs, they're made out of sticks! Big sticks! And they are so big, an actual person can sit inside of it. The Dyson goes to pretty much two ports. Kodiak Island, and Dutch Harbor. It also pulls a lot of data from the Bering Sea; which is a very dangerous part of the world to work in. Lots of severe cold and weather in the Bering Sea. Should be fun...
I'm thinking of taking a road trip vacation when I get off the ship in June. Thinking of driving from Portland, OR to the Florida Keys and back. I might post an ad on the "The Jobs" message board looking for a campanion traveller for the road trip. Should be a nice trip for someone who is into photography, scrapbooking or who had journalistic interests. As the trip will take anywhere from 12 to 15 days to complete, said companion should be freejack enough to pull plug from the world long enough to accommodate the trip's duration.
