Things are pretty crazy busy right now, finishing paintings, thinking up paintings (this is the easy part), deciphering what my paintings are really about (this part is driving me insane) and gearing up to go the New York next week. I'm psyched it should be a blast. I found this hostel that is only 30 bucks a night which is pretty amazing.

It's beginning to...

Five things that interested me (as opposed to 5 people I loved or 5 things that made my life worthwhile or while I'm at it, 5 desert island CDs)? Hmm, when you narrow it to that, let's say...

1. the ability of humans to both impress and depress at the same time (as in, how do we create such beauty while at the same time destroy so much beauty?)
2. being alive in a time where we were able to see the earth from space for the first time, to see how magnificent our world looks. Also to see the universe, the planets in our solar system and so much more thanks to advances in science and photography
3. speaking of science, the remarkable discoveries we've made and the strides we've taken in so many areas. The mind-boggling theories that have been developed in our lifetimes about the nature of the universe and life itself
4. baseball.
5. being alive at a time where I can speak with people all over the world and SEE the enitre world. Which brings me back to #1 again - we are systematically destroying the planet but maybe thanks to the Internet and instant communication we might actually be able to reverse the process before it becomes irrevocable.

Since you asked.

So I'm trying to load a video of myself working on a painting.....and I don't think it's going to happen, fuck. So in the meantime while I try and salvage the video so I can put it online I'll talk about.....I guess anything that flies into my brain (I have four minutes so here we go). I sent my under grad prof a ranting email,...

and my behavior toward women is more ethical

(tho i have never been tested by celebrity and the perks it brings--just the same, i generally disapprove of middle aged men in power hitting on employees, or even accepting the advances of employees. some things you just don't do. some people you just don't do. that includes people who work for you)

So I decided to take a "personal day" today the reason being I am exhausted and drank too much wine at the show opening last night. Instead I am going to eat vegan pizza, watch a movie, and possibly go to Home Depot to buy a respirator mask (I'm totally posting pics when I get it).

I went to a show last night across the...

Wait... did you say... vegan barb-e-que chicken pizza... delivered?

Respirator masks huh? I always seem to remember those after I realize I need them.
artandwater:
pizza boy? knock knock knock "are you sure you didn't order meat with their pizza?" (cue cheesy 70's porno music) ha ha ha

"personal day" is usually code for hangover. Everyone knows that. wink

sounds like you are having a fun semester so far, probably good to be in the full swing of things.

as always, looking forward to seeing your work as you make it........

Things are crazy busy right now. We just had our first BYC meeting to start planning the show, it should be interesting mostly since our meeting ended with two margaritas. Also, we checked out some Tyler work at Mass Art, there was some good stuff. It was nice to see fellow painters working on the East Coast

I started a new crazy painting with the...

I'm waiting on the Annihilation: Conquest Hardcover 1 and the Young Avengers Complete Series Hardcover.

Re: Strap-ons

The harness everyone says to get, the Jaguar harness, is available in WHITE LEATHER. It's a white belt strap-on!

"This one's just for you, Edgar."

I told my lady friend and she plotzed and was all "OMG, we have to get this one." So we are. It's 95 buxx though...

I wanted to update with pics from New York and stories about the art openings but I'm drained. I I'll post those later with pics of my new and first tattoo which i'm getting done tomorrow! I'm so freakin psyched, I can't wait.

In the mean time here is some comedic genius from Tim Roth....I love this movie.

i want to ride a phantom wave of college educated feminists dontchu?

NPR and most media outlets seem to have their head up their ass when they talk about Hillary. America literati are sensitive most of the time about race (exception: Andrew Cuomo), but sexism is so 'phantom' and invisible, reporters don't know they are engaging in it when they talk about her voice, her clothes, etc.

on the other hand, the coverage of S.Carolina race has also been powerfully stupid, allowing Bill Clinton to set the terms--it was a black primary, so it doenst really count. No one suggested that Hillary's failure to win the majority of white male votes was a potential problem for her (40% of white men went for the white man, imagine that--HRC and Barack Obama split the rest)

they need to at least acknowledge that Hilary is a leader. she is a leader of the Democratic Leadership Council, the right wing of the party. Speaking of race, the chair of DLC is Harold Ford, the anti choice, pro-war African American who narrowly lost his bid for the Senate from Tenn, the object of some slimey race baiting himself.

i'm obsessed.

forgive me

I like your distinction between "art fag" and "art snob"
I have a group of whitewater junkie friends and we all call each other "Lozers" and it's a badge of honor just like "art fag" because our lifestyle is pretty much the same (just replace the art with boating, but the drinking and doing nothing else is still the same)

twelve:
Well to be fair, I'm pretty bad at improving things, and very good at coasting along doing things I hate.
biggrin All my real life friends are big art fags!
