My ex-wife, the evil soul-destroying harpy just sent me a friend request on Facebook. What a laugh. Totally made me think of this...

Ok, so lot's of confusion about this, so I went ahead and learned it.

Overkill by Men at Work or Colin Hay.

Simple, really...Hay version is 2 frets down.

Listen to the tune for the rhythms, but that's it, folks, without factoring in the horns.

So...school starts back up at the end of the month. Wondering how it's gonna be. This semester I'm headed out into the real world. Gonna be visiting temples and Mosques to get some first hand experience with the non-Christian religions.

Should be a cool experience. Have done plenty of Buddhist practice on my own, but have never experience live temple practice. Interesting if nothing else.

So I just got a text from a girl I've known since the first grade, whom I see every so often, the last time at Christmas...

So now I'm sitting here thinking about her sweetness and listening to old Bobby Darin trying to finish up my book review on the Gospel of Judas....*sigh*

somewhere beyond the sea
somewhere waiting for me
my lover stands on...

almost done with the school year. one more book review and one more paper and I'm finished until the fall. i can't wait to go to sleep not thinking about the extra 20 pages I could've read or the three sources I should've looked into or the 4 pages I might've written.

How ready I am to relax into a nice day job.

I did have a great love of my life, you know. I haven't always been a cold hearted academic.

She had eyes as blue as a the Virginia sky in July. Her hair was always dyed, but, much to her discontent, a plain brown that I found ultimately endearing. Everything about her was perfect to me.

I remember one time, I picked her up at...

it'll take me awhile to learn her Elgar concerto. Might be too advanced for me. I"d have to look at the sheet music. It is a beautiful song. I have to find that song you talked about and listen.

lovely story. I just saw GWAR at the House of Blues in LA a few months ago. Kept the wife beater I wore for a souvenir from the blood and guts squirted at me. Yes I was in the pit. Little ole me. blush

I do often wonder what happened to me. I used to play bass all the time. Other professionals would inquire about my techniques. I was interviewed on radio and in print. I could swap out my pickups with a better set-up in about five minutes. I toured extensively. I was broke all the time. I got laid constantly.

Now I study and present theology.

Bizarre.

big day tomorrow. got to give a talk to a seminar regarding the response (or lack thereof) of the Catholic Church to the holocaust in the dark years 1942-43. Kind of a bleak subject. There's no real consensus in the scholarly world about whether the Vatican did enough or not. Very confusing stuff. Not looking forward to the Q & A. I think I know...

so so so

i've only got one more class left in my Monotheisms seminar, and I'm gonna be glad when it's over. Wasn't nearly as much fun as I had hoped. Heading back to scripture study for the spring.

My experiment in sobriety continues it's stately march. Sometimes I fall off the wagon, but just pick myself up and hop back on. It's kind of...

...We have familiar experience of the order, the constancy, the perpetual renovation of the material world which surrrounds us. Frail and transitory as is every part of it, restless and migratory as are its elements, still it abides. It is bound together by a law of permanence, and though it is ever dying, it is ever coming to life again. Dissolution does but give birth...
