Had a lucky night yesterday. Friend of mine wasn't able to find any women to go with him to the Flogging Molly concert, so I got the invite (being a good Irish lad myself). Unbelievable. I can't believe I haven't been to see them live before this. You can bet I'll be seeing any future shows they have in the area.
I kept hearing their name since I moved down here, but I kind of discounted them. I'm a diehard Pogues fan and I figured they were just another Pogues cover band like Dark Molly up in Seattle (what is it with Irish Punk and Molly Malone?). But after I finally managed to listen to an album I learned that Flogging Molly's music is pretty sweet and all their own thing. Definitely owes something to the Pogues, but by no means a carbon copy. They've got this rata-tat-tat feel to their lyrics so they hit with a precision that Shane McGowan's slur just wasn't capable of.
So yeah, amazing show. And I think the Henry Fonda theatre is one of my favorite venues in the city now. I saw the Decemberists there as well and loved it (as an interesting side note, James Fearnley from the Pogues had an accordian duel with Jenny Conlee that night which was incredibly fun to watch). I'd love to see the Flaming Lips in there one of these days.

Thank you for the comment you left. After you mentioned Anne Bancroft, I went through the proofs and really saw it in Reign's face and look. You seem to have quite the eye yourself.
