So I made a little quick trip to Austin. I had to pick up my artwork that was in a show there. I had 9 pieces hanging at Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse in South Austin. My brother took the show down for me on Wednesday and took the stuff to his house. So when I got down there I met up with my brother and we went out for steaks. YUMMY. We went to Texas Land and Cattle Co. and each got $20 steaks. I owed him a dinner so I picked up the tab. We then went to Bouldin Creek for some espresso.
Here's where the weirdness happened. Let me preface this story by saying that Dave and I are identical twins. Everybody that sees us together picks up on this right away. OK so this girl sitting by herself at the counter asks Dave and I how long we've been together. I have to say I was rather confused. We then figured out that she thought we were a gay couple. That's a new one. I said that we're brothers and she still didn't get it. I said we're twins and she said "oh" like she's never heard of the word before. So she then coverts into a very high maintainance bitch and starts asking where our dates are since it's Saturday night. I'm rather over this whole conversation and Dave, as he is known to do, starts to get rather pissed off. She says "don't you wanna know where my date is?" and Dave replies "not really". She then asks if she is annoying us and Dave says "yeah" in a tone that sounds more like "fuck off and die". Let me add that she was not at all attractive. She then gets up and leaves. I'm still confused. where does this bitch get off calling us queer when she's seen us for 5 seconds with no indicators of such. And then 5 seconds after finding out that we are NOT indeed a gay couple asks us where our dates are? What a nosy bitch. k.
Then we headed over to an art opening and reinforced my general dislike and awkwardness that I feel at them. I have been in tons of shows. I always want to run and hide at openings. I just really dislike them for some reason. I have no idea why. I do have a touch of social anxiety i guess. I really really really dislike large crowds. Maybe that's it. Shit i don;'t know. Then we went to a party with a billion people I don't know. It was alright I guess. Then it was time for a midnight snack at Kirbey Lane. I got their famous gingerbread pancakes. SO fucking good. Then we went and crashed.
Today we went and played disc golf. Now Dave and his friends are very good at disc golf and I suck. They usually play for a dollar a point and today Dave played badly and lost $15. He wanted to play another game at a nearby course and so I dropped him off and I made my way to Bouldin Creek again to gets some lunch and wait for Dave to finish playing. If you ever go to Bouldin Creek sit at the counter and watch the chaos that ensues. On Sunday they are super busy and today was even busier than normal. The employees are moving a million miles an hour and somehow everybody gets their food and drinks and everything turns out fine. It makes me tired just watching them. Anyways, Dave gets dropped off ands we head back to his apartment and I drive back to Fort Worth. I made the mandatory stop in West at the Czech Stop for Sausage rolls and Kolaches and then arrived home a few hours later. THE END.
