Well, I was kind of right.

We've reached 20% umemployment, according to some.

Let me know when we get to call this a depression.

* The dollar will weaken
* The overall financial situation in the US will change fundamentally
* Americans cant live on other peoples savings forever
* US households will have less access to credit in the future
* There will be more real economy in the US and less finance-based economic growth
* The world needs a new global monetary system
* The US remains...

I don't follow football, but they will be 8-8.

Obama is not the saviour. What's the opposite of "Saviour?"
jozsef:
The savings comment is not entirely clear to me but we have raised generations of citizens who believe that an ample supply of skilled people, raw materials and tools and infrastructure are all irrelevant when a scarce non-renewable commodity called money is unavailable to mobilize these. The unchallenged implication is that only the miracle of money has made it possible for people to do things for their own benefit, and were aliens to swoop down and take all of our money, the human race would have to starve and freeze. To focus mostly on money when discussing any human activity is to play into a distraction technique employed to good effect by all stage magicians. Our ignorance makes us complicit in our own enslavement.

BTW, it's Spendiour. wink

I'm just going to go ahead and say this: Sushi burps are a bummer.

Spicy tuna, yellowtail and Unagi to be specific. Not a good taste two hours later.

The same can be said for red wine though, great going in. Coming out can sometimes be a disaster.

On the topic of your last journal: the winner is - Eddie Bauer. I know, not on the list. Still, a big name.

Of the companies you list there, I actually think Harley-Davidson might be least likely to go under. Totally unsubstantiated, but I feel like they are the most likely to be able to attract new investors. The one thing that Harley has that no one else on that list does is a really solid, internationally recognized brand.

From my awesome prediction earlier this year: Two down.

Six Flags bites the dust.

Who's next?

1) Rite Aid
2) Sirius XM Radio (Huge bummer)
3) Krispy Kreme
4) Sbarro
5) Blockbuster
6) Dollar Thrifty Car Rental
7) Chrysler - BANKRUPT
8) Six Flags - BANKRUPT
9) Harley Davidson
10) Winnebago

I say Sbarro goes down next, followed by Rite Aid and then Harley Davidson....

Blockbuster - I think they'll go when we start to "properly" recover. I think I know what I mean.
tahloolah:
I say Rite Aid first. In Buffalo they are on EVERY corner and WAAAAY too expensive for this area. Why go to Rite Aide when we still have CVS here and there with the occasional Walgreens?
After that I am calling for Krispy Kreme.. they closed down all of their locations in Buffalo about a year ago...which doesn't sound good to me. Though, if you're familiar with Buffalo we have Tim Hortons...mmmmm......Timmy Ho's

I just took a job writing on Nick Swardson's new Comedy Central show. I usually don't take staff jobs, but I've known Nick for years and think anything he's involved in will be fun and good, which is rare in tv.

Not a fan of Comedy Central though, so we'll see how this goes....

So, my aunt finds out she has colon cancer last month.

She schedules surgery. They tell her it goes well and she heads home, expecting a full recovery.

But then, she's not feeling well. Lots of pain and whatnot, so she goes back to the hospital.

They take a look and discover her intestines have gangrene. Turns out they accidentally cut off the circulation to...

Holy fuck, that's dreadful. I'm sorry.

A couple of years ago my uncle died very unexpectedly during a routine procedure. My aunt was so traumatized that there was no autopsy and no lawsuit, but if it had been up to any of the rest of us there sure as hell would have been.

I'm glad to hear that the family is looking into legal remedies.
